The following week was the worst week of my life.

Kamsi's health kept deteriorating.

She was weak.

She barely ate.

Sometimes she couldn't even sit up.

The doctors wanted to run more tests.

I was terrified.

But Daniel suddenly had another business opportunity.

He told me he needed money.

Again.

β€œAmara, this is the last time.”

I stared at him.

β€œLast time?”

β€œYes.”

β€œYou already took my savings.”

β€œI know.”

β€œAnd you haven't returned anything.”

β€œI will.”

β€œMy daughter is sick.”

β€œI know.”

β€œThen why are you asking me for money?”

He sat beside me.

β€œBecause if I don't invest now, everything I've worked for will collapse.”

I laughed bitterly.

β€œEverything you've worked for?”

β€œYes.”

β€œYou mean the business I helped you build?”

β€œExactly.”

I looked at him.

Then he said the sentence that made me make the biggest mistake of my life.

β€œIf I succeed, Kamsi will have the best treatment money can buy.”

I believed him.

I borrowed money from my sister.

I borrowed from my cooperative.

And I gave Daniel another large amount.

I didn't know that same day, he bought Jennifer a car.

I didn't know until later.

πŸ”»πŸ”»

That afternoon, I called Daniel.

No answer.

I called again.

Nothing.

Then I received a message from an unknown number.

β€œYou need to know what your husband is doing.”

There was a picture attached.

Daniel was standing beside Jennifer.

The car was behind them.

A brand-new car.

The caption beneath the picture read:
β€œMy man did it again.”

I stared at the screen.

My husband had just told me he needed money to save his business.

He had used it to buy another woman a car.

I couldn't breathe.

I called him.

He answered.

β€œHello?”

β€œWhere are you?”

β€œWork.”

β€œWho is Jennifer again?”

Silence.

β€œYou're still asking me about her?”

β€œDid you buy her a car?”

Silence.

β€œDaniel!”

β€œYes.”

The word came quietly.

I felt something inside me collapse.

β€œWith my money?”

β€œNo.”

β€œThen whose money?”

He didn't answer.

I knew.

I knew immediately.

β€œMy money.”

β€œAmara—”

β€œYou bought her a car with the money I borrowed for Kamsi?”

β€œIt wasn't like that.”

β€œHow was it then?”

β€œI....I love her.”

Those three words destroyed me.

I sank onto the floor.

β€œYou love her?”

β€œYes.”

β€œAnd what am I?”

He didn't answer.

I laughed through my tears.

β€œI'm your wife.”

β€œYes.”

β€œYour daughter is dying.”

β€œI know.”

β€œAnd you're buying another woman a car?”

β€œI was going to replace the money.”

β€œWhen?”

β€œSoon.”

I screamed.

β€œSOON?”

Kamsi woke up.

β€œMommy?”

I wiped my face.

β€œBaby…”

She looked at me.

β€œWhy are you crying?”

I couldn't answer.

Daniel hung up.

That night, I sat beside my daughter's bed.

I held her hand.

β€œMommy is here.”

She smiled weakly.

β€œI know.”

I kissed her forehead.

β€œI'm not going anywhere.”

But the next morning, I did.

Daniel called.

He said he was stranded somewhere.

He begged me to come.

He said it was an emergency.

I looked at Kamsi.

She was sleeping.

The doctor had told me not to leave her alone.

But Daniel said:

β€œPlease. You're my wife.”

Those words were enough.

I asked a nurse to watch her.

And I left.

I went to meet my husband.

When I arrived, he wasn't stranded.

He was with Jennifer.

They were sitting in a restaurant.

Laughing.

I stood at the entrance.

Daniel saw me.

His smile disappeared.

β€œAmara…”

Jennifer turned.

She looked at me.

Then at him.

β€œSo this is your wife?”

I couldn't believe it.

Daniel stood up.

β€œLet's talk outside.”

I looked at Jennifer.

Then at my husband.

β€œYou called me here?”

β€œI needed to explain.”

β€œYou lied.”

He followed me outside.

I slapped him.

With all the energy I used in borrowing money just to lend to him.

For the first time in my life.

β€œDo you know where your daughter is?”

He looked away.

β€œAt the hospital.”

β€œAnd you made me leave her because you wanted to see her?”

He said nothing.

I rushed back.

But when I arrived at the hospital, there were doctors around Kamsi's bed.

The worst has happened.

I was sweating...

My heart had stopped.

β€œWhat happened?”

One of the doctors approached me.

β€œShe suddenly deteriorated.”

I ran to her.

β€œKamsi!”

She was unconscious.

β€œBaby, Mommy is here.”

I held her hand.

β€œPlease wake up.”

The doctor told me they were doing everything possible.

I cried.

I begged.

I prayed.

I promised God I would change.

I promised I would never put anyone before my child again.

But Kamsi didn't wake up.

Hours passed.

Then the doctor came out.

His face told me everything.

β€œNo…”

He gently shook his head.

I screamed.

β€œNo!”

I collapsed.

β€œMy daughter!”

I couldn't breathe.

β€œMy baby!”

Vivian held me as I screamed.

β€œI should have been here.”

She cried too.

β€œI should have stayed.”

Then she said:

β€œAmara…”

I looked at her.

β€œYou did everything you could.”

β€œNo.”

I shook my head violently.

β€œI didn't.”

I remembered every moment.

Every time Kamsi needed me.

Every time Daniel needed money.

Every time I defended him.

Every red flag I dismissed.

Every time I said:
β€œMy husband comes first.”

I looked at my daughter's empty bed.

And for the first time, I understood.

I hadn't been protecting my marriage.

I had been sacrificing my child for a man who wasn't protecting me.

Daniel came hours later.

He walked into the room.

I looked at him.

He started crying.

β€œAmara…”

I stood up.

β€œDon't.”

He froze.

β€œYou don't get to cry.”

β€œShe's my daughter too.”

β€œNo.”

I pointed at the door.

β€œYou lost the right to call yourself her father when you chose another woman over her.”

He cried harder.

But I didn't comfort him as usual.

For years, I had been the woman who defended him.

That woman died the day my daughter did.

And I wasn't going to become her again.

πŸ”»πŸ”»

Three days after I saw the message from Jennifer, I still hadn't confronted Daniel.

Instead, I watched him.

Every movement.

Every phone call.

Every time his phone vibrated.

And the more I watched him, the more excuses I created for him.

He started dressing differently.

He bought a new perfume.

He began coming home late.

Very late.

Sometimes he would step outside to answer calls.

Sometimes he would smile at his phone.

And whenever I asked him what was wrong, he would say:
β€œBusiness.”

I believed him.

Or maybe I wanted to believe him.

One evening, Kamsi's condition became worse.

She was shaking.

β€œMommy, I'm cold.”

I touched her forehead.

She was burning again.

I panicked.

β€œDaniel!”

He came downstairs.

β€œWhat happened?”

β€œWe need to take her to the hospital.”

He looked at his watch.

β€œNow?”

I stared at him.

β€œYes, now!”

He sighed.

β€œI have somewhere important to be.”

I couldn't believe what I had heard.

β€œYour daughter is sick.”

β€œI know.”

β€œThen let's go.”

β€œI'll send you money for transport.”

β€œDaniel, I need you to come with us.”

He became irritated.

β€œAmara, I'm trying to save this business. Can't you understand that?”

I looked at my daughter.

Then at him.

And somehow, I still defended him.

β€œIt's okay. Go.”

He looked surprised.

β€œAre you sure?”

β€œYes.”

He left.

I carried Kamsi to the hospital myself.

That night, the doctor said her condition needed closer monitoring.

β€œShe needs tests,” he said.

β€œHow much?”

He told me.

I froze.

I had barely anything left.

I called Daniel.

He didn't answer.

I called again.

Nothing.

I sent him a message.

β€œPlease, Kamsi needs you.”

He replied almost an hour later.

β€œI'm in a meeting. I'll call you.”

I stared at the message.

Then I noticed something.

His WhatsApp status.

A picture.

Daniel standing beside a beautiful young woman.

She was holding a champagne glass.

The caption read:

β€œCelebrating another successful deal.”

My hands started shaking.

The woman was Jennifer.

I knew immediately.

Because she was wearing the same bracelet I had seen in the message.

I called him.

This time, he answered.

β€œWhat's wrong?”

β€œWho is Jennifer?”

Silence.

Then:
β€œWhy are you asking?”

β€œWho is she?”

β€œShe's a client.”

β€œA client?”

β€œYes.”

β€œThen why are you celebrating with her at night?”

β€œAmara, you're being dramatic.”

β€œWhere are you?”

β€œI'm busy.”

β€œDaniel, our daughter is in the hospital!”

His voice became cold.

β€œDidn't I tell you I'm handling something important?”

Something inside me broke.

β€œImportant?”

β€œYes.”

β€œMore important than your daughter?”

He didn't answer.

I hung up.

I cried that night.

Not because I had finally realized he was cheating.

But because I realized I had spent the last few months making excuses for a man who didn't even care enough to ask whether his daughter was okay.

The next morning, I withdrew the little money I had left.

I paid for Kamsi's tests.

I called my sister for help.

But while sitting beside my daughter's hospital bed, I remembered something.

The money Daniel had taken wasn't just for his business.

I had discovered later that he had withdrawn part of it.

He hadn't bought electronics.

He had paid for an apartment.

For Jennifer.

I confronted him when he finally came to the hospital.

β€œDid you use my money to rent an apartment for her?”

He looked at me.

Then laughed.

β€œWho told you that?”

β€œAnswer me.”

He became defensive.

β€œYou went through my things?”

β€œNo. I found the receipts.”

He was silent.

β€œDaniel…”

He sighed.

β€œOkay. Yes.”

My heart sank.

β€œYou used my savings?”

β€œI was going to pay it back.”

β€œFor her?”

β€œShe needed somewhere to stay.”

I stared at him.

β€œAnd our daughter?”

He rolled his eyes.

β€œDon't make everything about Kamsi.”

I felt like someone had slapped me.

β€œShe's your child.”

β€œAnd Jennifer is important to me.”

The room went silent.

I couldn't breathe.

β€œYou just admitted that?”

He looked at me.

β€œI didn't mean it like that.”

β€œYes, you did.”

I wanted to scream.

But Kamsi was sleeping.

So I lowered my voice.

β€œYou chose another woman over your own family.”

Daniel shook his head.

β€œYou're always making me the villain.”

β€œBecause you are behaving like one.”

He stood up.

β€œI don't have time for this.”

And he walked away.

I sat beside my daughter.

She opened her eyes.

β€œMommy?”

β€œYes, baby.”

β€œIs Daddy angry?”

I forced a smile.

β€œNo.”

She looked at me.

β€œYou're crying.”

I wiped my face.

β€œIt's nothing.”

She reached for my hand.

β€œDon't cry, Mommy.”

That sentence destroyed me.

Because I realized something.

My daughter had become accustomed to watching me suffer.

And I had taught her that a woman was supposed to endure everything for her husband.

Even betrayal.

Even disrespect.

Even neglect.

πŸ”»πŸ”»πŸ”»

That evening, Vivian came to the hospital.

When she saw my face, she didn't ask questions.

She just sat beside me.

After a while, she said:
β€œYou defended him.”

I looked away.

β€œI thought I knew him.”

β€œYou knew him. You just refused to believe what you knew.”

I started crying.

Vivian held my hand.

β€œAmara, you can't keep choosing Daniel while Kamsi pays the price.”

Those words stayed with me.

But unfortunately…

I still wasn't ready to leave him.

Because Daniel came the next morning.

He brought flowers.

He knelt beside my bed.

And he cried.

β€œI'm sorry.”

I looked at him.

β€œI made a mistake.”

He held my hands.

β€œPlease forgive me.”

I wanted to hate him.

But when he said:
β€œI'm still your husband.”

Something in me softened.

I forgave him.

Again.

I didn't know that while I was forgiving my husband…

Kamsi's condition was getting worse.

And the next decision I would make would haunt me for the rest of my life.

EPISODE 1

There are some mistakes you make in life and immediately regret.

Then there are mistakes you defend so fiercely that you don't realize they are destroying you until there is nothing left to save.

πŸ”»

My name is Amara.

And if there is one thing I wish I could change about my marriage, it is the day I decided that being a β€œgood wife” meant putting my husband before everything else.

Even before my own daughter.

I didn't know it then.

But that decision would cost me the person I loved most.

My daughter.

It started on a Tuesday morning.

My eight-year-old daughter, Kamsi, woke up looking unusually weak.

β€œMommy…”

I turned around from the kitchen.

β€œYes, baby?”

β€œMy head hurts.”

I walked over and touched her forehead.

She was burning.

My heart dropped.

β€œWhy didn't you tell me last night?”

She shrugged.

β€œI thought it would go away.”

I immediately started looking for my purse.

β€œWe're going to the hospital.”

Before I could take another step, my husband, Daniel, walked into the room.

He looked worried.

But not about Kamsi.

β€œBabe, I need to talk to you.”

I looked at him.

β€œAbout what?”

He sighed.

β€œThe business.”

I almost laughed.

β€œDaniel, Kamsi is sick.”

β€œI know. But just listen to me first.”

That should have been the first red flag.

But I ignored it.

Daniel had been trying to expand his electronics business for months. According to him, one big investment would change our lives.

He had told me repeatedly that he just needed one final push.

And I believed him.

Because I was his wife.

β€œWhat happened?” I asked.

β€œMy supplier has given me a deadline. If I don't pay today, someone else will take the goods.”

β€œHow much?”

He mentioned the amount.

My heart sank.

It was almost everything in my personal savings.

Money I had been putting aside for emergencies.

Money I had specifically saved because Kamsi had been falling sick more frequently.

I looked at my daughter.

Then at my husband.

β€œDaniel, I can't give you all that money.”

His face changed.

β€œSo you don't believe in me?”

β€œThat isn't what I said.”

β€œYou've always said you want me to succeed.”

β€œI do.”

β€œThen why are you suddenly acting like I'm asking you to throw the money away?”

I didn't answer.

Kamsi coughed behind us.

β€œMommy…”

I turned.

β€œBaby, sit down.”

Daniel looked at me.

β€œI promise I'll pay you back.”

I should have said no.

I should have taken my daughter to the hospital.

I should have remembered what that money was for.

Instead, I heard myself say:

β€œOkay.”

Daniel smiled.

β€œThank you, baby.”

He kissed my forehead.

And just like that, I transferred the money.

Every single naira.

Kamsi and I eventually went to the hospital with almost nothing left in my account.

The doctor examined her and gave us medication.

β€œShe needs proper rest,” he said. β€œAnd if the fever persists, bring her back immediately.”

I nodded.

When we got home, Kamsi went straight to bed.

That night, I called Daniel.

β€œHave you received the goods?”

β€œYes.”

β€œGood.”

He sounded distracted.

β€œCan we talk tomorrow?”

β€œDaniel?”

β€œI'm busy, babe.”

Then he hung up.

I stared at my phone.

Something felt wrong.

But I pushed the feeling away.

The next morning, my friend Vivian came to visit.

She looked at me strangely.

β€œAmara, can I ask you something?”

β€œWhat?”

β€œDid Daniel really take all your savings?”

I frowned.

β€œYes.”

β€œFor his business?”

β€œYes.”

She hesitated.

β€œAre you sure?”

I laughed.

β€œWhy are you asking me like that?”

β€œBecause I saw him yesterday.”

β€œWhere?”

β€œAt a hotel.”

My smile disappeared.

β€œWhat?”

She quickly raised her hands.

β€œI didn't say he was with another woman.”

β€œThen why mention it?”

β€œBecause he was.”

Silence.

I stared at her.

β€œWith who?”

Vivian looked uncomfortable.

β€œI don't know her name.”

I shook my head.

β€œNo. You must have misunderstood.”

β€œAmara—”

β€œMy husband doesn't do that.”

She sighed.

β€œI'm just telling you what I saw.”

I stood up.

β€œYou don't know my husband. And don't talk about my husband that way. He's my HUBBY!”

Vivian looked at me for a long moment.

Then she said something I would never forget.

β€œSometimes, being a good wife doesn't mean defending a man from the truth.”

I got angry.

Very angry.

I told her she was jealous.

I told her she didn't understand marriage.

I told her she's never been married.

I told her Daniel was under pressure.

And I defended him.

Again.

That evening, Daniel came home carrying food.

β€œKamsi, Daddy bought you something.”

My daughter smiled weakly.

β€œThank you, Daddy.”

He hugged her.

And for a moment, I felt ashamed for doubting him.

That night, while Daniel slept beside me, his phone vibrated.

I wasn't trying to check it.

I swear I wasn't.

But the screen lit up.

One message.

β€œThank you for today, baby. I really appreciate everything you're doing for me. I promise I'll make you proud.”

My heart stopped.

The message wasn't from me.

The contact name was saved as:

Jennifer ❀️

I stared at the phone.

Then I looked at my sleeping husband.

My first instinct wasn't anger.

It wasn't even suspicion.

It was denial.

I whispered:

β€œMaybe it's a customer.”

I actually convinced myself of that.

Because sometimes, when the truth is too painful, your mind creates a lie that is easier to survive.

I put the phone down.

I pulled the blanket over myself.

And closed my eyes.

I didn't know that while I was busy convincing myself that my husband was innocent…

He was already spending the money I had saved for my daughter's emergencies…

on another woman.

And the worst part?

I was about to help him do it again.

Title: I FOUND OUT MY RELATIVES HAD CREATED A FAMILY WHATSAPP GROUP WITHOUT ME

EPISODE 1

πŸ”»πŸ”»πŸ”»

Chizoba had always believed that family was the one place where nobody could make you feel like an outsider.

She was wrong.
πŸ”»πŸ”»πŸ”»

It was a quiet Saturday morning when she returned from the market and found her mother, Kosisochukwu, sitting outside their little house.

Her mother was peeling vegetables, but something about her face told Chizoba that she wasn't really concentrating on what she was doing.

"Mama," Chizoba called as she dropped her bag on the wooden bench.

Kosisochukwu looked up and forced a smile.

"You're back."

"Yes. And guess what?"

"What?"

"I sold almost everything."

Her mother's face brightened.

"That's good."

"I even kept some money aside for your medicine."

Kosisochukwu immediately looked away.

Chizoba noticed.

"Mama?"

"I'm fine."

"You didn't take your medicine again, did you?"

Kosisochukwu sighed.

"My daughter, don't worry about me."

"How can I not worry about you? You're my mother."

Kosisochukwu smiled sadly.

"You sound just like your father."

At the mention of her father, Chizoba became quiet.

Her father had died years ago, leaving behind only memories, a few photographs, and a family that seemed to have forgotten that he ever existed.

Chizoba looked at the old photograph hanging on the wall.

"I miss Daddy."

"So do I," her mother replied.

There was a brief silence.

Then Chizoba smiled.

"Anyway, Mama, something funny happened today."

"What?"

"My friend Ifunanya asked me whether I was in the family WhatsApp group."

Kosisochukwu's hands suddenly stopped moving.

Chizoba noticed.

"Why did you stop?"

"Nothing."

Chizoba studied her mother's face.

"You know something?"

Kosisochukwu looked down.

"What do you mean?"

"Mama, you know something about this WhatsApp group?"

Her mother remained silent.

Chizoba's smile slowly disappeared.

"Is there actually a family WhatsApp group?"

Kosisochukwu finally nodded.

"Yes."

Chizoba stared at her.

"For how long?"

Her mother hesitated.

"Some months."

"Some months?"

"Yes."

Chizoba laughed nervously.

"And I'm not in it?"

Kosisochukwu didn't answer.

That was all the answer Chizoba needed.

She sat down slowly.

"Everybody is in it?"

"Not everybody."

"Who is in it?"

Kosisochukwu sighed.

"D**e. Chioma. Adaeze. Urenna. Ugo... and some of the other relatives."

Chizoba stared at her mother in disbelief.

"And nobody thought to add me?"

"My daughter..."

"No, Mama. It's okay."

She smiled, but the smile was painful.

"Maybe they forgot."

Kosisochukwu reached for her hand.

"They didn't forget you."

Chizoba looked at her.

"Then why didn't they add me?"

Her mother had no answer.

Chizoba stood up.

"How long have you known about this?"

"I heard about it some months ago."

"Some months?"

"Yes."

"And you never told me?"

"I didn't want you to be hurt."

Chizoba laughed bitterly.

"But I'm hurt now."

Her mother lowered her head.

"I didn't want you to have problems with your uncle."

"Problems?"

Chizoba shook her head.

"Mama, what have I ever done to Uncle D**e?"

"Nothing."

"Then why does he treat me like I'm not part of the family?"

Kosisochukwu looked toward the photograph of her late husband.

"Your father and D**e had their differences."

"What differences?"

"Please, Chizoba. Let it go."

"No."

Her voice was calm, but firm.

"I'm tired of everybody telling me to let things go without telling me what I'm supposed to be letting go."

Kosisochukwu looked at her daughter with sadness.

"Some things are better left in the past."

"Maybe for you."

Chizoba picked up her bag.

"But I'm the one living with the consequences of that past."

She walked into the house.

---

That evening, Chizoba sat on her bed with her phone in her hand.

She couldn't stop thinking about the family group.

She searched for D**e's name on WhatsApp.

His profile picture showed him standing beside Chioma in front of their beautiful mansion.

She opened Chioma's profile.

Then Adaeze's.

Then Urenna's.

Then Ugo's.

They were all connected.

They all interacted with one another.

They celebrated birthdays together.

They shared family pictures.

They contributed money for family occasions.

They prayed together.

They joked together.

They had created a little world.

A world where Chizoba did not exist.

She stared at the screen for several minutes.

Then her phone rang.

It was Ifunanya.

"Hello," Chizoba answered.

"Chizoba, are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

"You don't sound fine."

"I'm okay, Ifunanya."

There was silence.

Then Ifunanya said, "I wanted to tell you something."

"What?"

"I saw some messages in the family group today."

Chizoba's heart skipped.

"What messages?"

"They're planning a family meeting."

"Okay."

"They were discussing your mother."

Chizoba sat upright.

"My mother?"

"Yes."

"What were they saying?"

"I don't know everything. But D**e said your mother shouldn't be involved."

Chizoba's face hardened.

"Why?"

"I don't know."

"Send me screenshots."

"If I send them to you, they might know."

"I don't care."

"Chizobaβ€”"

"Please."

A few seconds later, screenshots started arriving.

Chizoba opened the first one.

D**e:
"Nobody should tell Kosisochukwu about the meeting yet."

Another message.

Urenna:
"But she's still part of the family."

D**e replied:

"That is exactly the problem."

Chizoba's eyes widened.

Another screenshot arrived.

Adaeze:
"What about Chizoba?"

D**e:

"Leave her out of it completely."

Chizoba stopped breathing for a moment.

She read the message again.

And again.

Leave her out of it completely.

Her eyes filled with tears.

"Why?" she whispered.

Ifunanya was still on the phone.

"Chizoba?"

She didn't answer.

"Chizoba?"

She finally spoke.

"Why do they hate me?"

"They don't hate you."

"Then what is this?"

She sent the screenshot back.

"Why would my own uncle tell them to leave me out?"

Ifunanya didn't know what to say.

Chizoba wiped her tears.

"I've never asked him for anything."

"I know."

"I've never insulted him."

"I know."

"I've never gone to his house to beg him for money."

"I know."

"Then why?"

Her voice cracked.

"I just want to know why my own family doesn't want me."

---

Across town, inside D**e's mansion, the family was having dinner.

D**e sat at the head of the table.

Chioma sat beside him.

Adaeze, Urenna, and Ugo were also there.

D**e's phone vibrated.

He looked at it.

A message from Urenna appeared.

"I think Chizoba knows about the group."

His expression changed.

Chioma noticed.

"What happened?"

"Nothing."

"You don't look like nothing happened."

D**e locked his phone.

"Forget it."

Chioma stared at him.

"Is it Chizoba?"

D**e looked at his wife.

"Why are you suddenly interested in her?"

"Because she's family."

D**e laughed.

"Family?"

"Yes."

D**e leaned back.

"Chioma, you don't understand."

"Then explain it to me."

D**e's face became serious.

"Some people are family by blood but not by loyalty."

Chioma frowned.

"She's your late brother's daughter."

"I know exactly who she is."

"Then why are you treating her this way?"

D**e stood up.

"Because I know what her mother is planning."

The room became quiet.

Ugo looked up.

"What is Kosisochukwu planning?"

D**e glared at her.

"Don't ask questions about things that don't concern you."

Ugo immediately looked away.

Chioma wasn't satisfied.

"What is she planning?"

D**e walked away from the table.

"That's none of your business."

---

That night, Chizoba couldn't sleep.

She kept replaying D**e's words in her mind even though he hadn't said them directly to her.

Leave her out completely.

She turned toward her mother's room.

Her mother was asleep.

Or at least, she appeared to be asleep.

Chizoba quietly walked to the living room and stood before her father's photograph.

"Daddy," she whispered.

"I don't understand this family anymore."

She touched the frame.

"Did you know they hated us?"

A tear rolled down her cheek.

"Did you know Uncle D**e would treat me like this?"

She remained there for a while.

Then she noticed something.

Behind the photograph was a small brown envelope.

She pulled it out.

Her name was written on it.

CHIZOBA.

Her heart began beating faster.

She opened it.

Inside was an old handwritten letter from her father.

Her hands trembled as she unfolded it.

The first line immediately caught her attention.

"My daughter, if you are reading this, then I am no longer here to protect you."

Chizoba's eyes widened.

She continued reading.

"There is something you must know about your uncle D**e..."

Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her.

Chizoba quickly turned around.

Her mother was standing in the doorway.

She looked terrified.

"Mama?"

Kosisochukwu stared at the letter in Chizoba's hand.

Then she whispered:

"Where did you find that?"

Chizoba looked at her.

"Behind Daddy's photograph."

Her mother's face changed.

"Give it to me."

"Why?"

"Chizoba, give me that letter."

"No."

Her mother took a step forward.

"Please."

Chizoba held the letter tightly against her chest.

"What happened between Daddy and Uncle D**e?"

Kosisochukwu's eyes filled with tears.

"That letter was never supposed to be found."

Chizoba froze.

"Why?"

Her mother looked at her daughter.

And with a trembling voice, she said:

"Because if you discover the truth about your father's death..."

She paused.

"...you will understand why your uncle has spent all these years trying to keep you away from this family."

Chizoba stared at her mother in shock.

"What truth?"

Kosisochukwu couldn't answer.

And that was when Chizoba realized:

The WhatsApp group wasn't the real secret.

It was only the beginning.
