After seeing this pattern play out:
tight paydays, master spreadsheets, people running on pure willpower
– we’ve found a few small rules useful before adding more complexity.
We pay extra attention when:
🍄🟫 key decisions always happen late at night or last minute,
🍄🟫 one person’s brain or laptop is a single point of failure,
🍄🟫 the system view and “ground feel” constantly argue,
🍄🟫 people are working hard but still getting surprised by the numbers.
These aren’t “you’re doing it wrong” signals.
They’re just signs that prompt us to ask:
🤔“What is the smallest change that would make life noticeably easier for them over the next few months?”
Sometimes that’s a better report, sometimes a small integration, sometimes just a simple weekly view everybody understands.
Keeping it small and practical almost always works better than 💎one big, shiny overhaul.
