Ask AI what a homeowner searches before they ever message you.

"List 15 Google search phrases a homeowner in [your city] might type before hiring a renovation contractor, ranked from most to least likely."

Compare that list against what's actually written on your website and page. Most contractor pages are full of "we do quality work" and none of the actual phrases people search.

Use AI to summarise a messy site visit voice note into a clean quote email.

Record yourself talking through a site visit like you normally would. Paste the transcript with: "Turn this voice note into a clean, professional quote summary email: scope of work, materials mentioned, and next steps. Keep my tone, don't add anything I didn't say."

Saves the Sunday-night quote-writing session most contractors dread.

A 2-minute AI check that tells you if your GBP category is actually working against you.

Ask ChatGPT: "What is the difference between the Google Business Profile categories 'General Contractor', 'Renovation Contractor', and 'Interior Designer', and which is most searched for [your service] in Malaysia?"

Then go check your actual GBP category. A lot of listings I look at are still sitting under something generic like "Business Service" from when they first set it up.

If sorting this out properly feels like a rabbit hole, that's genuinely one of the things I do for contractors.

How many enquiries did your business get last month that never turned into a site visit?

If you're like most contractor owners I speak to, you're not entirely sure. And that gap, the one between "someone messaged me" and "someone booked a visit," is usually where the real money is quietly leaking out.

It's not always about more leads. Often the work is already coming in. It's the trust gap in between that's costing the job: no case studies online, an enquiry that sits unanswered for a day, a Google listing nobody claimed.

I'm building exactly this kind of system live right now for a Malaysian renovation contractor, closing that exact gap between an enquiry landing and a site visit getting booked.

If you want a second pair of eyes on where your own gap might be, I'm happy to have a look and tell you honestly what I'd fix first. No pitch, just a look.

Drop a comment or dm me if that's useful.

Ask AI to draft your service page outline before you write a word.

"Outline a service page for a [kitchen renovation / interior fit-out / whatever service] contractor in Malaysia. Include sections for: what's included, typical timeline, typical price range language (no fake numbers), FAQs, and a closing WhatsApp CTA."

You're not asking it to write your final copy, just the skeleton. Filling in a structure is much faster than staring at a blank page.

Your before/after photos deserve a better caption than "before and after 😍".

"Write a before/after caption for a renovation photo. The job was [type of renovation], took [X weeks], client wanted [main request]. Highlight the transformation without sounding like an ad. End with a light question."

Specific captions get read. Generic ones get scrolled past, even when the photos are genuinely good.

I had someone show me their finished project folder not long ago. Beautiful bungalow renovation. Twenty-something photos. Sitting on a hard drive, never seen by anyone outside the family that lived there.

Here's a quick win if you have the same thing sitting on your phone right now.

Pick your best completed project. Write four short lines: what the client wanted, what made the job tricky, one photo of the "before," and one of the "after." That's it. Post it as a single Facebook post with those four lines under the photos.

You don't need a fancy write-up. You need the story of the job, told in plain language, with proof next to it.

Do that once a month with your best work and you'll have a portfolio building itself in the background.

What's the one project sitting on your phone that deserves this treatment? Tell me in the comments.

Use AI to spot the gap between your Instagram and your competitor's.

Screenshot your last 9 Instagram posts and a competitor's last 9. Upload both to ChatGPT and ask: "Compare these two renovation contractors' recent posts. What is the competitor showing that I'm not?"

Nine times out of ten it's something simple: process shots, client testimonials, or pricing transparency. Small gap, easy fix once you see it named.

The FAQ page most contractor websites are missing, written in 10 minutes.

"List the 10 most common questions a Malaysian homeowner asks before hiring a renovation contractor, with a short honest answer to each, written in first person as the contractor."

Paste the output onto an FAQ page or even a single pinned Facebook post. This is exactly the kind of content Google likes to pull into search results, and it answers objections before the WhatsApp message even starts.

Before: a client enquiry lands on WhatsApp at 9pm, buried five minutes later under a supplier message and a school group chat. By the time you see it, it's Tuesday.

After: every new enquiry gets its own label the moment it comes in, so it never gets lost in the scroll, even on your busiest week.

The bridge is simpler than it sounds. WhatsApp Business (free) lets you create labels. Set up three: "New Enquiry," "Quoted, Waiting," and "Site Visit Booked." The second any new number messages you, tag it "New Enquiry" before you even reply. Takes two seconds.

Now you can filter your chat list by label and see every open enquiry in one screen, instead of hunting through a week of messages.

That one habit alone has saved a lot of contractors from losing a job to silence.

If you try it this week, let me know how it goes.
