PERKESO Introduces SKBBK “24-Hour Protection” Starting 1 June 2026 (June Wages)

Employers and employees should take note of the upcoming implementation under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4) amendment:

✅ Non-Work Related Accident Scheme (SKBBK)
✅ Provides protection 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
✅ Covers employees for accidents occurring outside working hours

📌 Examples of coverage:
• Accidents at home
• Road accidents unrelated to work travel
• Injuries during personal or recreational activities

📌 Who is covered?
✔️ Local employees
✔️ Foreign employees
✔️ Employees across various sectors under Act 4

📌 SKBBK Contributions:
• Fully borne by employees
• Deducted through the employer’s payroll system
• Contribution rates will be implemented in phases:
➡️ Phase 1: 0.75%
➡️ Phase 2: 1.00%
➡️ Phase 3: 1.25%

📌 Benefits provided under SKBBK:

Kerajaan telah menetapkan tarikh cuti umum seperti berikut:

📅 31 Mei 2026 (Ahad) – Hari Wesak
📅 1 Jun 2026 (Isnin) – Hari Keputeraan Yang di-Pertuan Agong (cuti wajib berbayar & tidak boleh diganti)

📌 Perhatian:
✔️ Jika Hari Wesak jatuh pada hari rehat (Ahad), maka 2 Jun 2026 (Selasa) adalah cuti gantian
✔️ Hari Keputeraan YDPA adalah cuti wajib bagi pekerja sektor swasta
✔️ Bekerja pada cuti umum melayakkan pekerja menerima bayaran khas mengikut Akta Kerja 1955

Additional PH for Hari Raya 2026

The additional public holiday declared by the Government is compulsory.

Employers may choose to:
1. observe the public holiday on the same date declared, or
2. replace it with another suitable day as a replacement paid public holiday.

Employers should clearly inform employees which arrangement will apply.

If employees are required to work on the declared public holiday, the applicable public holiday payment rules should be followed.

📢 EP Update (Effective 1 June 2026)

New Employment Pass (EP) salary requirements have been announced by MOHA.

Key changes:
• Higher minimum salaries for EP Categories I–III
• Roles with salaries RM3,000–RM4,999 no longer eligible for EP
• Succession planning now emphasised
• Category III dependents now allowed

👉 Employers should review salaries, update manpower plans, and prepare early to avoid delays.

For companies that observe Thaipusam as their PH, the replacement PH must be given on the next working day (Tuesday). If the company wish to observe the replacement PH on any other day, it can only be done with agreement of the employees as stated in Section 60D(1A).

1. Kerajaan Persekutuan telah mewartakan hari kelepasan am bagi tahun 2026 iaitu Hari Thaipusam dan Hari Wilayah Persekutuan pada 1 Februari 2026.

2. Cuti Hari Wilayah Persekutuan adalah cuti yang wajib diberikan oleh majikan sektor swasta yang berada di Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya dan Labuan kepada pekerja sebagaimana peruntukan seksyen 60D(1)(a)(iii) Akta Kerja 1955 [Akta 265] dan tidak boleh diganti. Memandangkan Cuti Hari Wilayah Persekutuan jatuh pada hari Ahad, maka majikan yang menetapkan hari Ahad sebagai rehat mingguan pekerja hendaklah memberi cuti gantian pada hari bekerja berikutnya (Isnin).

3. Selanjutnya, majikan yang memilih cuti perayaan Hari Thaipusam sebagai baki enam hari kelepasan am yang dipilih sebagaimana subseksyen 60D(1)(a) Akta 265, perlu memberi cuti gantian pada hari bekerja berikutnya (Selasa) memandangkan terdapat pertindihan kedua-dua hari kelepasan am ini. Majikan juga boleh memberikan pekerja mana-mana hari lain sebagai hari kelepasan berbayar sebagai ganti dengan persetujuan pekerja sebagaimana seksyen 60D(1A).

4. Pekerja yang diarah bekerja pada hari kelepasan am layak menerima kadar gaji bagi cuti am seperti yang ditetapkan dalam seksyen 60D(3).

As of 1 August 2025, the Minimum Wages Order 2024 has come fully into effect!

Employers must pay a minimum wage of RM1,700/month or RM8.72/hour to eligible employees.

💼 Daily minimum wage rates:
✅ RM65.38/day (for a 6-day work week)
✅ RM78.46/day (for a 5-day work week)
✅ RM98.08/day (for a 4-day work week)

📌 Ensure all employment contracts and salary payments are reviewed and updated.
