I almost believed his website.
He sent it over late at night.
Said he had just updated it.
I opened it on my phone.
It looked… impressive.
Big office shots.
Glass buildings.
People shaking hands like deals were closing every minute.
For a moment,
I thought he had grown into something much bigger.
So I asked him.
Who are you working with these days?
He said, small business owners.
Some just starting.
Some trying to get their first few clients.
I went back to the homepage again.
And something felt off.
Because nothing on the page
looked like those people.
No small desks.
No messy notebooks.
No real moments.
Just a world that felt… bigger than them.
I paused.
If I was his client,
I would not feel like I belonged there.
Not because the work is not for me.
But because the page feels like
it was built for someone ahead of me.
And that small feeling matters more than most people think.
Because people do not usually say
this is not for me.
They just step away.
No message.
No click.
No second thought.
Sometimes we try to look more established.
More professional.
More “big”.
But in doing that,
we slowly move away
from the people we actually want to help.
It is a small shift.
But it changes everything.
Take a look at your page for a moment.
Does it feel like your client’s real life.
Or the version you think you need to show.
There is a difference.
And people can feel it.
If you feel like something is slightly off on your page,
you can share it here.
I can take a look and tell you what it feels like from the outside.
