Alliance Française de Kuala Lumpur The Official French Language and Cultural Centre in Kuala Lumpur Since 1961 Alliance Française has a foothold in Malaysia since 1961.

In Kuala Lumpur, AFKL operates from 2 centres: Lorong Gurney (main centre), and Bangsar. The Alliance Française is not only a unique language centre whose reputation is firmly established but also an exceptional social and cultural environment, with multiple events throughout the year. Strategically located, the Lorong Gurney Centre is housed in a fully renovated bungalow in a pleasant and green s

etting. Some of the facilities offered are: cafeteria, Multimedia library open to all, broadcast of French TV (TV5). It aims at gathering the French and Malaysian, and fostering exchanges between the two communities. It offers free parking facilities and is situated near the National Library, Istana Budaya (National theatre) and KLCC.

Meet Nadége, one of our French native teachers at AFKL 😆!

Je m’appelle Nadège, Coordinatrice des cours jeune public et professeure de français à l’Alliance Française de Kuala Lumpur. Originaire de Paris, j’ai enseigné pendant 10 ans en Slovaquie avant de venir en Malaisie, encouragée par mes amis à tenter cette nouvelle aventure. En dehors de l’enseignement, j’aime découvrir de bons restaurants et lire. 📚🍅

J’enseigne de façon ludique car, d’après moi, on apprend mieux en s’amusant, peu importe l’âge. En classe, j’utilise des jeux, des chansons et différentes activités pour rendre l’apprentissage plus dynamique et encourager les élèves à prendre confiance en eux. Mon objectif est de leur permettre d’apprendre le français tout en prenant plaisir à l’apprendre. 🇫🇷✨

Ce que j’apprécie particulièrement dans mon métier, c’est de voir les élèves s’ouvrir et prendre progressivement confiance en eux. Il y a deux ans, j’ai notamment enseigné à un groupe d’adolescents qui ne me parlait presque pas et répondait rarement à mes questions. J’ai finalement continué à les accompagner pendant un an et demi, et les voir devenir plus à l’aise et plus impliqués a été une expérience très enrichissante. ✨

My name is Nadège, Children Course Coordinator and French teacher at Alliance Française de Kuala Lumpur. From Paris, I taught French for 10 years in Slovakia before moving to Malaysia after my friends encouraged me to apply here. Outside of teaching, I enjoy discovering good food and reading. 📚🍅

I teach in a fun way, using games, songs, and activities to make learning more enjoyable because I believe that you learn better when you have fun. In class, I encourage students so they gain confidence. My goal is to help my students learn French while enjoying the process. 🇫🇷✨

One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing students open up and become more comfortable. I once taught a group of teenagers who barely spoke to me or answered my questions. I ended up teaching them for a year and a half, and seeing them gradually become more confident and engaged was a truly memorable experience. ✨
