According to the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI) 2025, Singapore maintains its position as Asia’s leading financial hub and ranks 4th globally, earning an impressive score of 763. Known for its strong regulatory framework, advanced infrastructure, and global connectivity, Singapore continues to be the preferred base for international banks and investors. The city-state’s dominance reflects its ability to balance innovation and stability in the ever-evolving global economy.
Following Singapore, Kuala Lumpur ranks 45th globally with a score of 714, solidifying its role as a strong regional performer. Malaysia’s capital is becoming increasingly important in ASEAN’s financial landscape, attracting fintech startups and green finance initiatives. Meanwhile, Labuan, an offshore financial hub also part of Malaysia, secures a spot at 60th with a score of 699, underscoring its role in facilitating cross-border investments and offshore banking.
In Southeast Asia’s broader context, Jakarta (91st) and Ho Chi Minh City (95th) are emerging as rising financial centers, showing consistent growth supported by their expanding economies and digital transformation efforts. Cities like Bangkok, Manila, and Da Nang are also progressing steadily, reflecting the region’s increasing financial sophistication. Together, these cities are shaping a more interconnected and competitive ASEAN financial ecosystem.
