SCENIC proudly celebrated the graduation of Batch 3 of the SCENIC Creative Academy, marking the journey of 10 graduates who have completed the six-month Industrial Bridging Programme (Toon Boom), supported by Peneraju. The ceremony took place at Hotel 7 Suria, Suria Sabah Mall, Kota Kinabalu, on 30 September 2025.

The celebration also witnessed the official launch of the SCENIC Impact Grants, with the support of Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi Sabah a funding initiative designed to empower communities, entrepreneurs, and innovators across Sabah.

From nurturing homegrown animation talents to creating opportunities through impactful grants, SCENIC remains committed to building an inclusive, innovative, and sustainable creative economy for Sabah.

Bringing Digital Art to Life!

On February 22, 2025, SCENIC Creative Academy (SCA) hosted an Environment Concept Art Workshop with Ethan Lo, Founder of Vox Art Studio, at the SCENIC Building, KKIP. 11 passionate participants explored digital art using KRITA (free art software), gaining hands-on experience in environment concept design. From mastering essential tools to refining their creative techniques, the session provided valuable insights for Sabah’s budding artists.

Participants were thrilled by Ethan’s live demonstrations, where he shared industry tips and tricks to bring digital landscapes to life! Many expressed excitement about applying their new skills to future projects. A huge thank you to Ethan Lo for sharing his knowledge and inspiring the next generation of digital artists! This is just the beginning, let’s keep empowering Sabah’s creative talents!

ASEAN-UK Symposium on the Creative Economy Sustainability Framework

SCENIC was honoured to attend the ASEAN-UK Symposium on the Creative Economy Sustainability Framework alongside the Institute for Development Studies - Sabah and Sabah Creative Committee member Geoffrey Sinn! A huge thank you to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture for the invitation and the opportunity to be part of these important discussions.

As we approach the Sabah Creative Economy Summit 2025 on 14–15 April 2025, the British Council will also be involved in shaping key discussions for the summit. A key takeaway from this symposium for SCENIC is that Sabah must build on its own strengths rather than follow external trends. With the British Council onboard, we’re fostering impactful conversations for a thriving creative ecosystem. Let’s chart Sabah’s unique path forward!
