Heat is one of the silent factors affecting UPS battery performance.
Most UPS batteries are designed to 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝟐𝟓°𝐂. As temperature rises, internal chemical reactions accelerate, increasing battery ageing and reducing its service life.
As a general rule of thumb:
• 25°C — Optimal operating temperature
• 35°C — Service life may 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝟓𝟎%
• 45°C — Service life may 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝟐𝟓%
High temperatures can also contribute to capacity loss, faster degradation and premature battery failure.
To protect battery performance, maintain proper ventilation and cooling, monitor room temperature, and conduct regular battery inspections and maintenance.
A well-managed environment helps your UPS batteries perform reliably for longer.
