Last month a client told me his SEO was “done”. Page one for his main keyword. Agency report says green across the board.
Then I asked an AI assistant to recommend a company like his in KL.
It named three of his competitors. He wasn’t in the answer. Wasn’t even close.
He’d spent two years and a decent budget being findable. And the place his customers are starting to ask is one he’d never been measured on.
That’s the gap most Malaysian SMEs are sitting in right now without knowing it. Google ranks you. AI quotes you. Two different games, two different scoreboards, and most businesses are only checking one.
What struck me most: the fix wasn’t a new website or a new agency. His site was fine for Google. It just wasn’t written in a way an AI could lift a straight answer from. Slogans instead of sentences. Three versions of his company name across the web. Nobody outside his own site mentioning him.
So I put the whole thing into 60 seconds. Not the theory, the difference. What each one is for, how each one is won, and why one sits on top of the other.
Before you watch it, do the test. Ask any AI assistant to recommend a company like yours in Malaysia. Then come back and tell me: were you in the answer?
I’ll go first in the comments with what I found when I ran it on us.
