2G RAN Test Engineer – Solution Assurance
A Test and verification engineer with three or more year’s experience of integration & verification is required to form part of Solution Assurance team to undertake the testing of Telecoms solutions for a major UK mobile operators.
This role would suit an enthusiastic engineer who is flexible and keen to utilise their skills and experience in Telecoms.
The Test Engineer is responsible, together with other Ericsson engineers, for ensuring that the Ericsson delivered solution is verified in accordance with the Ericsson project processes, overall requirements and to the customer’s expectation. Test Engineer is responsible for Test activities including test design, setup, testing and results review, test fault reporting and tracking to resolution, coordination of software control matrix, working closely with customer test engineers during all test activities.
Test Engineer may also be involved in installation, integration and testing of hardware and software, integrating the solutions, formulating upgrade and migration plans and writing technical documentation. Hence it is desirable that the test engineer will have skills in the Configuration of network elements or willingness to learn quickly.
Previous demonstrable relevant Ericsson product knowledge in live or test plants would be an advantage.
This role requires fluent spoken and written English. The person is expected to hold a University degree or equivalent. The candidate must also be able to co-operate and work with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
The candidate will need to have the following professional skills:
· Good knowledge of Telecoms and Telecommunication protocols.
· Hands on experience with GSM/ WCDMA Technologies
· Good knowledge of components of Ericsson mobile network solutions or willingness to learn & master it quickly.
· In depth understanding and experience of integration and verification techniques and tools.
· Awareness of Management/OSS platforms.
· ISEB foundation level or equivalent accreditation
The candidate will need to have the following qualities:
· At least 3 years IT/telecom experience.
· Good communication / presentation skills.
· Customer oriented.
· Self motivated
· Negotiation Skills towards both customer and other team members.
· Enthusiastic.
The responsibilities are described as:
· Establishing test specifications and procedures for the solution, with high focus on acceptance test procedure, acceptance test and hand over to the customer and Ericsson support organization.
· Mapping from solution requirements into test strategies, test scopes and test cases.
· Test case production and ex*****on.
· Verification of products interfaces and/or processes needed for the integration of the solution in the customer’s system.
· Performing configuration, installation, and tests.
· Analyzing and evaluating test results.
· Supporting and participating in the acceptance procedures and tests.
· Support of on-site activities.
Specific requirements for GRAN Project
Practical testing experience and understanding of:
· BSC and RBS (2000 series)
· GB, Abis, and A interface protocols
· 3GPP specifications.
· 3G and 2G protocol analyzers (Nethawk, RADCOM and WireShark).
· TEMS or other Air Interface protocol monitors
· Work in a laboratory test environment.
· Basic APG competence
· IP connectivity and protocols
· Test and verification methods
· Network Integration and Verification
