At Border Prototypes, we’re proud to share our growth journey! Founded by alumni from engineering and business, including Arnold Chavira, Enrique Garibay Trejo, Lorenzo A., and Shakeel Ali, we specialize in metal additive manufacturing (AM). We started operations in Juarez, Mexico, leveraging the region's strong industrial base to introduce local manufacturers to AM technologies. This foundation has fueled our growth, and now we're thrilled to be expanding into the U.S. market and establishing a customer base in El Paso! W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation at UTEP alumni Arnold Chavira, Enrique Garibay, and Lorenzo Arecco teamed up with Shakeel Ali (UTEP School of Business alumni) to create Border Prototypes which specializes in metal (AM). Because of the robust industrial base in our sister city of Juarez, Border Prototypes built their first operations in Mexico and their experience educating and working with manufacturers in Mexico to adopt AM led to strong growth. They are now building up a customer base in the U.S. and expanding into El Paso.

We're seeking engineering students who are eager to embrace new technologies and contribute their fresh perspectives.

Responsibilities:

Operating 3D printers (FDM, SLA)
CAD design
Post-processing of 3D prints
Process documentation
Purchase order tracking
Inventory management

Qualifications

Currently enrolled as an active student and planning to remain so throughout the internship period. (Graduation date May 2024 or later).
Open to engineering students only (mechanical, mechatronics, aerospace, industrial, etc.)
Proficiency in Solid Works/Fusion 360
Milling experience
Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish
Previous experience in Additive manufacturing/3D printing
Outgoing, self driven, proactive, independent
Availability to work part-time in the mornings.
