Goodbye Windows 7!

Microsoft will no longer support the 11 year old operating system as of this Tuesday 14/1/2020. For users, that means Microsoft will stop providing UPDATES and SECURITY patches for Windows 7.

Microsoft said that Windows 7 users can still use their computers after Tuesday, but the company warns they will be at greater risk for Viruses and malware.

Have your Windows 7 computers migrate to the latest in computer operating systems with us to avoid strenuous activities later on.

Software updates are critical, so automate them!

The highest priority updates are system updates. Windows 10 installs them automatically by default, but check your system to confirm your version is set up to update automatically, or at least notify you when updates are available. Next in line, update as soon as possible:

-Anti-virus
-Browsers
-Java
-Adobe Flash
-Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat

Beware of Fleeceware!

New word? Don't be alarmed Ic-Tech Africa is here to help.

Overpriced apps are enticing Google Play and App Store users with free trial periods and then charge them for a paid subscription.

Fleeceware exploits people's natural curiosity and carelessness, as well as their love for free stuff combined with reluctance to dive into subscription T&Cs.

How to guard against Fleeceware :
- Do not download apps offering primitive features at exorbitant prices or by subscription.
- Before installing an app, read reviews or both it and the developer. Information about related scams is likely to be online.
- If you sign up for a free trial period, and do not plan to pay for the app in future, make sure to unsubscribe.
