Tech moves fast. Community is what gives it direction.

This Saturday, Novity Mauritius is hosting Microsoft Build // Localhost in partnership with the .NET User Group Mauritius — a half-day of exchange for developers and engineers who want to stay close to what's actually changing in Azure, .NET, and AI.

Not a conference. Not a pitch. A room full of people serious about the craft, comparing notes.

At Novity, we think that's how ecosystems grow — through honest conversations, shared practice, and the kind of learning that doesn't happen behind a screen alone.

Come for the sessions. Stay for the conversation.

A 2 kg laptop requires nearly 700 kg of raw materials to exist.
Training a single AI model can consume as much electricity as hundreds of households use in a year.

These aren't abstract figures. They're the starting point of a conversation that is long overdue in our industry.

Our teams recently took part in La Fresque du Numérique — a collaborative workshop that maps the full environmental footprint of digital technologies. Guided by our facilitator Diane Salmon, we explored the systemic realities of our industry: resource extraction, energy consumption, electronic waste, and the growing environmental cost of AI infrastructure.

Not as a list of problems. As a shared reality to navigate together.

What stood out wasn't just the data. It was the moment our teams started connecting what they build to what it actually costs — far beyond budget lines and delivery timelines.

Innovation without that awareness isn't maturity. It's speed without direction.

At Novity, building seriously means building consciously. Understanding the environmental weight of the systems we design is part of how we define engineering responsibility. Sustainability isn't a constraint or a checkbox — it is a standard of quality.

La Fresque du Numérique was one step forward. Thank you Diane Salmon for opening the conversation and grounding it in something real. The commitment continues.

When did your team last stop to measure the full cost of what it builds?

The moment an engineer says “I was wrong” in front of the whole team — and nobody blinks — that’s when you know the culture is real.

We build software the way knowledge actually moves: through friction, through candor, and through people skilled enough to challenge each other without ego getting in the way.

Our REX sessions (Retour d’Expérience) are not post-mortems disguised as polite meetings. They are structured moments where we dissect what happened in the field — what worked, what failed, and why. No filters. No hierarchy protecting weak decisions. Just engineers and consultants who care enough about craft to be honest about it.

Our Code & Coffee sessions are not casual either. They are where a technical debate that started over espresso ends with a whiteboard full of approaches nobody had considered the night before. That is not accidental. It is what happens when experienced people are given space to think better together.

And today, that matters more than ever.

AI is reshaping client expectations faster than most organisations can absorb. Delivery pressure is compounding. In that environment, the teams that will stand out are not the ones with the most tools — but the ones where knowledge moves fast, field experience is shared openly, and difficult conversations happen early enough to prevent costly mistakes later.

That is the culture we choose to build — deliberately and consistently.

Not as slogans, but as operational principles:

🚀 Excellence — Raising the bar continuously, because comfort is the fastest path to irrelevance.
🔥 Audacity — Questioning assumptions, including our own. The best idea in the room is the one that survives scrutiny.
🤝 Humanism — Remembering that technology is a means. People remain the point.

A cup of coffee and an honest conversation may look like a small thing. In strong engineering cultures, it’s infrastructure.

If these are the kinds of discussions you want to be part of, the conversation is always open.

The real question is no longer if we use AI.
It’s whether we are ready to take responsibility for how it shapes what we build.

At our annual AI seminar, our teams from Mauritius, Madagascar, and France moved beyond the narrative to ground AI in real-world delivery. We moved past the "why" and focused entirely on the "how."

Guided by Marc Israel, the day followed a single, relentless progression:
Understand → Experiment → Master.

This wasn't about theory. It was about translating AI into the fabric of our day-to-day work. Across every workshop, one reality stood out: AI doesn’t just introduce new tools; it reshapes how we think, decide, and deliver.

We pushed through three critical layers:
•Demystifying: Stripping away the hype to understand core limits.
•Applying: Integrating AI into live workflows across Dev and Support.
•Challenging: Testing use cases and breaking assumptions to find true value.

Today, the goal isn't adoption—it’s integration done with clarity and intent. This is where the difference is made:
•Excellence: Maintaining high engineering standards in a machine-assisted world.
•Audacity: Having the courage to question and evolve our practices.
•Humanism: Ensuring solutions start with people and real business needs.

We aren’t adopting AI as a trend; we are embedding it as a discipline.
From experimentation to impact—the shift is already here. If you see yourself in it, let’s start the conversation. 🚀

Three locations. One way of creating value.

This week, France, Mauritius, and Madagascar came together — not around delivery, but around what makes delivery work: alignment.

Conversations that don’t happen on calls.
Moments that don’t fit into agendas.
Context that makes collaboration smoother, faster, and more precise.
Because synergy is not a concept.

It’s built — through proximity, shared understanding, and real exchanges.
And it shows in how we deliver.

👉 The work continues, together.

To mark International Girls in ICT Day, Novity Mauritius engaged directly with students at Loreto College Rose-Hill — not to present tech as an idea, but to confront what it really is: a field that is demanding, evolving fast, and open to those who choose to step into it.

The objective was clear: move away from surface-level narratives and create a space where careers in tech are understood through real roles, real challenges, and real paths.

Because in an environment shaped by constant change — and increasingly by AI — understanding the reality of the field matters more than ever. Not just what exists, but what it takes to be part of it.

During the session:
→ a structured view of roles across software, quality assurance (QA), product, and innovation
→ concrete insights into how the industry is evolving
→ open exchanges designed to question, challenge, and build perspective

Led by our team — Naailah Nowrung Narain, QA Manager, and Gianeeta Ramchurn, QA Lead — the session was designed as an interactive moment: direct, accessible, and grounded in real experience.

Because these conversations are not secondary.
They shape how opportunities are understood.
And they influence who decides to step forward.

Quality is what holds when everything else moves fast.

Last week, Novity Mauritius was a Silver Sponsor of TestCon 5, organised by @ Mauritian Software Testing Qualifications Board - MSTQB. A space where the QA community comes together to challenge practices, share field experience, and strengthen how quality is approached over time.

Our QA teams were fully engaged throughout the event.
→ Participation in two workshops:
• Using Metrics to Create Better Software
• Making Agile Work from the Bottom to the Top

→ Contribution to the Women in Testing panel
Our QA Manager, Naailah Hassina Banu Nowrung Narain, represented Novity by sharing real, on-the-ground experiences — not theory, but what it takes to sustain quality in practice and her own story.

In the era of AI, this also shaped many of the discussions.
Not as a trend, but as a shift in how testing, automation, and quality engineering are evolving — raising new questions on reliability, responsibility, and the role of QA.

Two days of knowledge sharing, but also a recurring observation:
the challenge is no longer just to move fast.
It is to ensure what is built continues to hold.

Complexity, scale, evolving requirements…
every technical decision has a direct impact on the product in production.

This is exactly what we work on every day.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to these exchanges —
Rishabh Gungah, Bhamini Cunden, Naailah Hassina Banu Nowrung Narain, Jayshini Pather, Olivier Chavry, Noemi Oozeeraully, Nafissah Fakun-Bhuglah, — and to the broader community driving this level of discipline forward.

Because QA is not a checkpoint.
It is what sustains a product, long after delivery.

Naailah Nowrung Narain, our QA Manager, joins the conversation at TestCon 5.

Not to speak about theory —but to bring what we see on the ground:
how quality is challenged, structured, and held over time.

At Novity, testing is not a phase.
It’s part of how we build systems that stay reliable in production.
This is where the discussion matters —when practice meets reality, and standards move forward.

📍 Friday, 10 April at 13:30
Let’s be there, connect, and keep raising the bar together.

Quality is not a checkpoint.
It is what holds a product in production, over time.

Novity Mauritius is supporting TestCon 5 as a Silver Sponsor — a space where the testing and quality engineering community comes together to challenge practices, share experience, and raise the bar.

Because beyond delivery, what matters is this:
→ building reliable systems
→ structuring quality as a discipline
→ and aligning on standards that last

Supporting initiatives like TestCon is part of how we contribute to a stronger, more demanding tech ecosystem in Mauritius.

Progress doesn’t happen in isolation.
It happens when engineers confront ideas, refine practices, and grow collectively.

👉 See you at TestCon 5 on Thursday & Friday, 09–10 April 2026 at Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Tower, Ebène.

Our team Nafissah Fakun-Bhuglah, Jayshini Pather & Olivier Chavry— will be there. Feel free to connect with us to exchange ideas, share experiences, or simply continue the conversation around quality and engineering practices.
