During the month of June, Juanjo Reina, Head of Product FE & Mobile, and Albert Magro, Senior Product Owner, attended the ‘Mind the Product’ Conference, in London. An event that brought together product leaders, practitioners, and thinkers from across the globe for a full day of insights, debate and inspiration.

💭 “The necessary role of product people is product creation. Not coordination. Not alignment. Not delivery management. Creation.” - Albert Magro

For Albert, the opening keynote by Christian Idiodi, set the tone for the day:

“Too often we get caught up in the process, the meetings, the tickets, the standards, without stopping to ask: how much value are we actually delivering with all of this? Christian's call was to return the product to its roots: invention, problem-solving, disciplined creativity”.

“More speed without better judgement just means you can build the wrong thing faster. What AI cannot replace, Christian argued, is judgement, taste, ethics, strategy, and leadership. Those are the competencies we need to invest in”.

A message that resonated with Albert was that “AI is not a tool, it’s an era shift”, and while Artificial intelligence was a recurring topic, a key takeaway was that speed alone isn’t enough: "More speed without better judgement just means you can build the wrong thing faster. AI cannot replace judgement, taste, ethics, strategy, or leadership. Those are the competencies we need to invest in".

Reflecting on the event, Albert concludes:

“The game has changed, and the teams that will win are not the ones who move fastest. They are the ones who combine the speed AI now gives us with human judgement to know what is actually worth building”.

GiG Gives goes beneath the waves: Malta clean-up success

🌊 This June, 19 GiGsters used their paid volunteer day to take part in our annual land and sea clean-up, supporting the global initiative .

Together, our volunteers removed over 255kg of harmful waste from Malta’s shoreline and seabed. Working alongside Malta Blue Diving, Preluna Hotel, and Sliema Local Council, our cleaned the Fortizza shoreline and surrounding underwater areas.

🤿 Following the impact of storm ‘Harry’ earlier this year, the underwater environment had been left with significant debris and damage. The divers recovered an impressive 200kg of eroding scrap metal, rusted rods, pipes, and chains from the seabed around Fortizza. Meanwhile, the land-based clean-up team collected 55kg of waste, including glass and plastic bottles, cigarette ends, cups, bags, and other litter.

Through GiGGives, we aim to create a positive impact in our local communities while helping protect the environment. These initiatives support a more sustainable future and contribute to the United Nations’17 Sustainable Development Goals.

A huge thank you to our 19 volunteers, Malta Blue Diving, Preluna Hotel, and Sliema Local Council for their continued support and commitment to this initiative. We look forward to making an even bigger impact next year!

💭 “Having a safe, judgment-free space to openly discuss challenges has contributed to a greater sense of belonging,” says one of our Mentees participating in our pilot Mentorship Programme.

Launched in March to celebrate International Women's Day, our Mentorship Programme connects women in the early stages of their careers with a gender-diverse group of our Seniors, Directors and Executives. Together, they've shared valuable experiences, learned from one another, and recognised that there's always more to discover - on both sides.

🗣️“I learned that fear doesn’t have to be a barrier; it can actually be a powerful driver and a great motivation to challenge oneself. I will definitely carry this perspective forward,” reflects one of our Mentors.

The Mentorship Programme reinforces our commitment to our people by connecting across locations, creating opportunities to learn, grow and support one another, while emphasising the power of diverse connections.

We couldn't be more of what we've achieved this June. We've shared stories and perspectives from our people, hosted a roundtable discussion on "Soft Skills and AI", bringing together GiGsters from different locations, backgrounds and areas of expertise, and we're closing the month on a high note with the positive feedback from our Mentorship Programme.

While may be coming to an end, our commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels seen, heard and empowered continues every day. Here's to keeping the conversation going and continuing to learn from one another.

More great news, as we have officially secured our technology licence in Alberta, Canada, marking another new chapter in our global regulated expansion. The approval from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) reinforces our position as one of, if not the absolute benchmark for regulated market growth.

We are fiercely committed to delivering commercial opportunities for our operators, ensuring they possess the widest network of regulated market access in the industry. With current partners already locked in to scale into Alberta with us, we are actively turning this freshly regulated landscape into an immediate opportunity for growth. 🚀

“AI doesn't strip accountability, use it to challenge your solution, not define it” - is one of the many valuable insights our guest speakers brought to our internal Roundtable Session: “Human-Centric Soft Skills and AI”.

Our guest speakers - Amelia Karp, Head of Talent Acquisition; Kévin Brocard, Product Director; Sergio Castillo, Senior Security Application Engineer; and Keith Goodlip, Director of Compliance - explored how AI is challenging and transforming their own roles and their team’s, while reinforcing the importance of human expertise.

🗣️“Humans will always be the ones to make a company stand out”

🗣️ “Whilst it is important to Know Your Customers, it is vital in a world of AI to Know Your Company Identity to stand out”.

The session also touched on the impact of AI on entry-level roles, particularly as repetitive tasks become increasingly automated. The panel agreed that future talent will need to bring critical thinking, curiosity, and the confidence to challenge and go beyond AI-generated responses rather than simply accept them.

With nearly 150 joining from our offices and remotely, it was an engaging conversation that celebrated our diverse talent, perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences that make GiG unique.

A huge thank you to our speakers and everyone who joined the conversation. 👏

Seven UK brands. 14 weeks.

That is one regulated launch every fortnight. 🎯
While some platforms treat the UK market like a compliance obstacle course, we treat it like clockwork.
Building a robust, reliable, and heavily regulated operation does not mean stalling your roadmap. It just means picking the right technology partner.

🚀 Scaling up in the UK? Let’s talk cadence at iGB Live this July.

🗣️ “Performance is a team sport” - Stefania Zammit

During the month of May, Kyle Vela, Cristina Llorente, Stefania Zammit, and Zulema Gonzalez attended the HR Summit World, in Porto, Portugal, which is one of Europe's top gatherings for HR and People leaders. The team had two packed days exploring the future of work.

What stood out most to our Team was that “Performance is a team sport”. In Stefania’s words, “high performance isn't the sum of strong individual parts; it's built on collaboration, trust, and shared accountability. A useful lens as we think about how we structure goals and team dynamics”, she states about one of the talks.

“Knowing what to do as a leader isn't enough - it's emotional commitment that moves things forward”, says our Head of Talent Management, Stefania Zammit.

The conference covered topics such as “consistency vs innovation”; “emotional commitment in leadership”, “Ethical AI and responsible use of people analytics”, “Skills-based talent strategy as the foundation for workforce planning”, and “Employee experience as a deliberate design challenge”.

Stefania also observes that for her, “the big question the summit kept coming back to was ‘what does it mean to lead with soul in an age of algorithms and constant change?’ - one we're navigating at GiG too”.

The team came with plenty of ideas, inspiration, and insights that will undoubtedly continue to help shape initiatives at .
