With Covid restrictions lifted in Malta, our Flutter Group employees have once again been able to come together and return to playing an active role in the local community. To kick things off we have been doing beach clean-ups and on 19th of May, we turned our attention to Ghajn Tuffieha, one of the most outstanding natural sandy beaches on the Island.

There has been a worrying increase in pollution around our coastline and yesterday we focused our attention on microplastics. Armed with rakes and sieves 74 volunteers sifted through the sand and collected an astonishing 20 sacks of rubbish in just a couple of hours! With 196.8kms of coastline on the island of Malta alone, this is, of course, just a small contribution to the environment but if we all do our bit we can help to protect our beautiful shores.

Flutter will be supporting local initiatives all year through an extensive programme of corporate social responsibility activities and events. We will keep you updated throughout the year.

Over the next 2 weeks Thomas Franks Ltd. Malta will be providing over 3000 meals to medical staff and the most vulnerable.

Well done to everyone who got stuck in at the PPB Beach Clean-Up last Friday!

With the support of The Gaia Foundation we managed to fill 10 general waste bags and 4 recycling bags with plastic bottles, a mountain of cigarette ends, an old barbeque and even a stone carved head that resembled something out of Ancient Greece!

Keeping the beaches in Malta clean is so important to us at PPB and I can assure you that this will certainly not be our last clean-up. What we found great about this clean-up was the positive feedback we received from the public on the day. Hopefully our initiative will help to inspire others and that we will start to see less pollution to our beloved beaches.

This month we treated the office to a relaxing, yet informative wine tasting course. During the evening we tasted Cabernet Sauvignon from New Zealand, Dry Riesling from Germany, Beaujolais Classic from France and White Port from Portugal. Thanks to our Ministry of Fun for supporting this event!
