BLOCKCHAIN CONFERENCE
The 2018 World Blockchain Conference was held at the eraton Conference Center in Rome on Tuesday 03 July.
The Conference was organised by ChinaNews.SE and the Wensiu Foundation, to promote an exchange of information on Blockchain developments in Asia and Europe. Prof. Alfred J. Baldacchino, Rector Magnificus of the Universitas Sancti Cyrilli - A.D.1669, was the Officiating Guest and delivered the opening speech of the Conference, as well as chairing a Panel of foreign experts for a question and answer session.
Prof. Baldacchino traced the expansion of Blockchain Technology, from its Founding Fathers Stornetta & Haber way back in 1990, to Malta's bid to develop a Blockchain Island, with Binance – the largest crypto Exchange world wide - opening an office in Malta. Prof. Baldacchino dwelt at length on the Malta Government measures to provide a stable, well-defined framework for a strong, reliable Blockchain community. He listed a number of legislative measures to regulate Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) which were created as a free, unregulated system, now rushing to register under new regulations.
Prof. Baldacchino informed the audience that the Universitas Sancti Cyrilli, in conjunction with a State University in Southern Italy, was launching a University Course on Blockchain and Crypto Currencies later this year. Prof. Baldacchino concluded by referring to the Malta Blockchain
Summit and Hackathon, to be held in Malta on 1 and 2 November 2018, which is expected to draw some 4,000 Delegates worldwide.
