When reading, you may notice that some writers use "the earth," while others use "the Earth" or "our Earth."

They can have slightly different connotations based on context:

“the earth”
This is often used in a more general sense, referring to the planet as a physical object, similar to how one might refer to "the moon" or "the sun."

“the Earth"
Capitalizing "Earth" typically signifies the planet in a specific context, such as in scientific discussions, astronomy, or when referring to it as a proper noun.

“our Earth"
This phrase adds a personal or collective touch, emphasizing human connection or responsibility towards the planet. It often conveys a sense of stewardship or belonging.

"Whales are the biggest mammals on earth."

We can also say "on the Earth," but "on earth" is commonly accepted in informal contexts. (Both are fine!)

While they refer to the same planet, the usage can imply different nuances or contexts.

(they are often heard in proverbial
utterances, and still being created today. most are self-explanatory.)
