⁣This is home for the past 5 months. Tioman has been a surprise! ⠀

Spending the last 6 years living in remote islands, I've overlooked this one which is closer to home. I would rather not be homebound but like everyone else, 2020 is not a time for international travelling. However, it has been a pleasure exploring this island.⠀

I've not seen too much of it yet but it's a welcome change to be on a bigger island where water and land-based activities are available. Now that it's monsoon season, surf's up!⠀

Late night musing.

My favourite fish and I in our home. That's the last time I saw the mantas and can't wait for the day to come that we get reunited.

How would you like to open your eyes to this every morning?

I for one miss waking to this view for sure. So beautiful and peaceful before the rest of the island start being busy. After all this time, this jetty is still my favourite spot to do yoga. Lived on this island for three years and how I took some small things for granted and now I am stuck indoor barely seeing the sunshine.

Note to self: be grateful. All. The. Time. Live in the present.

We drove around the island for about 8-10 hours. Not that you needed that much time to go around but we stopped every 30 mins to climb up the waterfall, have a coffee, high-five with the kids that ran out enthusiastically from the paddy fields, having local snacks, chatting with the nuns and enjoying the view.

I remember the higher we went the better it gets. Air temperature dropped and it got foggy and refreshing until when it got dark and tricky to navigate down the mountain. This place is so scenic and peaceful!

An island in a lake.

Samosir Island a out the size of Singapore in Lake Toba, the biggest lake in Southeast Asia and one of the deepest in the world. Indonesia is not short on the natural wonder of the world for sure.

Summer road trip in Ireland 2018

What a fun time it was! To spend time with a bunch of friends we usually see at work outside of work in a completely different settings.

Donegal is really gorgeous too! I like seeing the differences of beauty in European and Asian nature. As much as I love the tropical forest, I am a little jealous of the lack of mosquitoes in Europe.
