Recently we assisted one of our clients with analysing bearing condition of a locomotive alternator.
capabilities were used to collect data, analyse, and diagnose the problem.
The process involved:
• Field technician collected the data using our VibCloud android app
• Data was stored in the cloud where our vibration experts analysed data remotely and provide a recommendation
• The analysis was done using our VibCloud web app and involved the following steps:
- listening to the recording acceleration wav file
- analysis of acceleration time waveform and spectra = detected metal-to-metal impacts
- analysis of demodulation spectra = understanding the rate of impacting and the relation to bearing being the cause
- analysis of velocity spectra = assessing the severity of the bearing problem
- recommending corrective action
