Book Sprints

Book Sprints From Zero to Book in 5 days A Book Sprint is a collaborative process that captures the knowledge of a group of experts in a single book.

In 3-5 days our professional team works with your chosen group of experts to create a high-quality publication ready for print and digital distribution.

Happy World Book Day! 🌍📚

Traditionally, we think of writing a book as a solitary journey, a single author working quietly for years to share their knowledge with the world. That process is beautiful and deeply necessary.

But at Book Sprints, we love to ask: What happens when a book becomes a gathering place?

When you bring together diverse experts, practitioners, and community members to co-author a book in just five days, the magic isn't just in the finished pages. The magic is in the shared debates, the bridging of different perspectives, and the new coalitions formed across the table. It transforms a publication into a living conversation.

Today, we are celebrating every book that has ever sparked a conversation, and every group of co-authors brave enough to write one together.

Have you ever tried to write a single document with 15 different experts? 🧑‍🍳

We’ve all been conditioned to believe that "too many cooks spoil the broth". We assume that involving too many specialized experts in a writing project will result in a disjointed, chaotic mess. Listen to Joy Goswami on how our Technology Transfer Handbook 5-day Book Sprint with Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) proved the exact opposite. When you remove individual ego and focus on a shared goal, a large group of experts doesn't create a mess; they create a masterpiece.

Have you ever been part of a group project that completely exceeded your expectations?

Want to organize a Book Sprint, but not sure what you need? We'll start you off with three simple things!

💫 A compelling pitch
From funders to expert authors, we know you’ll need the buy-in of different people. We've got just the tools to help you convince those who need to be convinced that Book Sprints work! From success stories to testimonials, our blog contains some of the stories and authors we're most of proud of from Book Sprints.

🤝 A well-chose group of experts
Now that you've got an idea for a book or something similar, you need to decide who could contribute best to this collaborative piece. A good constellation of experts, in this case, are somewhere between 5-15 people who both share expertise in a certain area and represent diversity of perspectives within that area. Some diversity in participants —perspectives, experience, job roles, ethnicity, gender— creates a better work dynamic and a better book.

🏘 A space that fuels collaboration
The Book Sprint venue is one of the final pieces of the puzzle when putting together a Book Sprint. Simply put, the venue should be removed from everyday distractions and have space for both group conversation and individual work. Sometimes this might mean a remote cottage in the countryside or by the beach, or an isolated set of conference rooms at a hotel. We have a handy guide with details on coming up with your perfect venue!

We've had 15 years of experience organizing Book Sprints, both onsite and virtual. We'll help you get it all figured out so you can focus on bringing to life the collaborative vision of your team. Let's chat about it at ✉[email protected]!

We're Sprinting! 🏃‍♂️

This week finds Book Sprints in Accra, Ghana for a Book Sprint with ECOWAS Commission, in partnership with APRI - Africa Policy Research Institute and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH! Book Sprints facilitators Alysa Khouri and Baba Dodo joined 18 authors for this 5-day Sprint.

This year, ECOWAS celebrates a momentous milestone after a half-century of impactful work — its 50th Anniversary. The goal for this Sprint is to capture and crystallize this legacy for generations to come. The handbook aims to highlight ECOWAS' major achievements, appreciate its rich history, peek behind the curtain at its processes, and look forward to its bright vision for the future.

Now on Day 3, the authors are well on their way to capturing this legacy!

We're thrilled and honored to be part of such a momentous milestone in the organization's history.
