Challenge Labs / Makeathons 2024 has concluded!
4️⃣0️⃣ participants spent 48 hours creating bold solutions to reduce food waste.

🥇🏆 The 1st place and €2000 from the main supporter of Challenge Labs / Makeathons, DOJUS Latvia, went to the team "Sustainable Plant Protein" 🥳. Alina Sivačova and Igors Sivačovs developed a technology offering an innovative solution for oil producers, allowing efficient processing of press cake with high oil content (about 50%) that is unsuitable for animal feed. Through research and refinement of purification technology, Alina and Igor produced protein concentrates with purity levels of 63.5% and 75.8% protein content, as well as a high-quality protein isolate with 84.18% protein content. This method enables the full utilization of by-products, breaking them down into three valuable resources: technical oil, fiber, and protein isolate. It creates a zero-waste approach addressing global resource efficiency and sustainability.
