This week, our Riga office welcomed Anders Nilsson, our CIO, and Paula Pylväs, who recently returned to If as CTO, for a conversation dedicated to getting to know the people behind the titles.

Hosted by Janis Kesteris, Head of IT Baltic, the event gave colleagues a chance to hear not only Anders and Paula’s views on technology, business, and the future of IT at If, but also the interests and experiences that shape who they are outside work.

And there was plenty to discover. From music and dancing to building things beyond the digital world, colleagues got to see a more personal side of both Anders and Paula, and a reminder that IT leadership is shaped not only by strategy and technology, but also by curiosity, personality, and the energy people bring with them.

Mixing light and serious conversation, musical performances, improvisation and a little competition over rebuses made the event feel very true to our Tech Community – curious, open, a little unexpected and built around people. 💙

Thank you, Anders and Paula, for spending time with us in Riga, and thank you to everyone who joined and made the room feel so alive.

Riga was full of energy yesterday as Rimi Riga Marathon brought runners together from across the world. Among them were our colleagues taking on everything from shorter distances to the marathon itself. 🏅

Proud of every kilometer conquered, every finish line crossed, and all the support shared along the way. Huge kudos to everyone who participated and cheered each other on throughout the day! 🙌

Our first IfTech Trivia v1.0: complete. ✅

Yesterday, 12 teams joined us in Riga for a tech quiz night built around IT rebuses, puzzles and trivia questions. The leaderboard was tight all the way to the end, with only a few hundred points separating the top teams:

🚀 New in our tech blog!

Our comes with smaller communities too, one example being our analytics community that brings together analysts, data scientists, and actuaries. One place this community connects and learns outside the office is the Nordic Analytics Network Seminar (NANS), where one theme stood out this year: why speed alone doesn’t translate into value in analytics.

Over the last two days, , our signature event that travels between locations each year, brought together 500 tech and business colleagues for the fifth time, this time at our Bergshamra office.

Together, we explored what growth means for us as an organization. The event kicked off with a hackathon, where cross-functional teams from different business areas came together to collaborate, exchange perspectives, and turn ideas into future solutions. It was followed by a full-day gathering filled with keynotes and panel discussions, all centered around different perspectives on growth – from local to global perspectives, from technology and collaboration to ways of working, and from mindset to impact.

During the event, Will McAllister, SVP and Managing Director EMEA at Guidewire Software, joined as host, sharing insights on leading across regions and industries in a fast-moving software environment and enabling growth through strong customer relationships and cross-functional alignment.

Natālija is known for her wisdom, warmth, and ability to inspire others, always seeing potential in people and encouraging them to believe in themselves. Beyond being a highly professional and knowledgeable colleague, she brings kindness, positive energy, and a true sense of spirit to the team.
