❗️UK regulators Ofcom and the Information Commissioner's Office are turning up the pressure on social media platforms to strengthen age checks for under-13 users. They have asked platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, Roblox and X to introduce more robust age assurance, highlighting that self-declared age checks are easily bypassed.

With Ofcom estimating that 86% of children aged 10–12 already have social media profiles, the call for stronger verification is becoming impossible to ignore. For the industry, the message is clear: effective age verification is no longer optional, it’s essential for protecting young users online. 🙏
