Lithuania launches “Mano muitinė” – a unified digital platform for customs services.

The new portal brings customs-related information, electronic services, operational updates, and self-service functionality into one integrated environment for citizens, businesses, and public institutions.

Launched by the Customs Department (Lietuvos muitinė) under the Ministry of Finance of Lithuania, “Mano muitinė” (My Customs) addresses a common challenge in public service delivery: making information and services easier to find, access, and use. By consolidating resources previously distributed across multiple systems, the platform creates a more seamless experience for users.

Funded through the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility programme, the initiative reflects a strong commitment to more accessible, transparent, and efficient public services. NRD Companies partnered with Lithuanian Customs to develop and implement a modern, scalable solution designed around user needs and long-term institutional goals.

By simplifying access to services and improving operational efficiency, “Mano muitinė” marks another step forward in Lithuania’s digital transformation journey. 🤝

Happy Samoa Independence Day! 🎉

As Samoa celebrates Independence Day, we recognize the country's efforts to build the foundations for a secure, inclusive, and digitally connected future.

NRD Companies was honored to support the Samoa Bureau of Statistics in developing a roadmap for a National Digital Identity system and modernizing civil registration services.

The project assessed Samoa's existing civil registration and identity management infrastructure, designed an integrated framework linking digital identity with the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system, and provided recommendations for the legal and regulatory reforms needed to support future implementation.

By laying the groundwork for Samoa's first National Digital Identity system, the initiative strengthened the country's readiness for digital transformation, improved access to public services, and supported a framework that promotes privacy, data protection, and inclusion.

The project transformed an outdated paper-based registry into a secure, web-based platform, enabling online company registration and management while improving service efficiency, accessibility, and transparency. Legacy data was migrated to the new system, compliance with local legislation and international standards was ensured, and registry staff were trained to effectively manage the platform.

Our partnership has continued beyond the initial implementation, with ongoing enhancements supporting Anguilla’s efforts to strengthen transparency, efficiency, and digital service delivery.

This week, NRD Companies is welcoming a delegation from the ICT Department of Sint Maarten to Vilnius for a study visit focused on Lithuania’s digital government ecosystem. 🤝🌍

Throughout the programme, the delegation is meeting with Lithuanian institutions working across digital public services, digital identity, trust services, cybersecurity, data governance, AI, interoperability, and state registries - exploring how digital transformation is coordinated and delivered in practice.

The visit is part of Sint Maarten’s ongoing Digital Government Transformation Project, aimed at strengthening public services, improving resilience, and building more citizen-centered digital government capabilities. Since 2022, NRD Companies has been supporting this journey together with Sint Maarten partners.

For us, these exchanges are valuable because they move beyond theory - creating space to discuss lessons learned, institutional coordination, implementation challenges, and approaches that can help governments build secure, accessible, and sustainable digital services adapted to local realities.

Last week, we joined the WSA Global Congress 2026 in Vienna, where participants from more than 70 countries discussed what meaningful digital transformation really requires - and how digital innovation can scale for people and planet. 🌍

Our Chief Consulting Officer, Ieva Žilionienė, contributed to discussions on digital sovereignty, inclusive digital infrastructure, and citizen engagement, sharing lessons drawn from NRD Companies’ experience supporting digital government transformation projects across different regions.

One message stood out clearly: digital infrastructure is only inclusive when people can actually access and use it.

From Kenya’s rural service access models to assisted access through island councils in Kiribati, NRD Companies has seen that different contexts often require the same principle - support must reach people close to where they live. 🤝

The discussions also highlighted that digital sovereignty is ultimately about governments remaining in control through sustainable solutions, local capacity, and long-term ownership.

Because building a digital solution is only the beginning. Sustainability and stewardship must be built in from the start - and these are exactly the principles NRD Companies continues to bring into digital transformation projects worldwide. 💡

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Stefan Andonovski, Minister of Digital Transformation of the Republic of North Macedonia, together with his delegation, to the NRD Companies HQ. 🤝

During the visit, we presented NRD Companies’ global GovTech experience and discussed the ongoing digital transformation journey in North Macedonia - including the modernization of registers, digital public services, and the growing role of AI in government.

It was a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives on how governments can build more connected, efficient, and citizen-centered digital services.

What does it take to move business registration from paper-based procedures to a fully digital national system?

In Lao PDR, that transformation required close institutional collaboration, regulatory alignment, system integration, and hands-on implementation work across multiple stakeholders.

Led by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Lao PDR and implemented under the World Bank–financed Lao PDR Competitiveness and Trade Project, the newly launched Electronic Business Registration System (eBRS) now enables fully digital registration workflows, integration with tax and e-payment systems, and public business verification through QR codes.

NRD Companies partnered in the design and implementation of the platform - from architecture and interoperability to migration of more than 110,000 records and nationwide training programs.

Projects like this are not only about technology. They are about creating systems that institutions can operate sustainably, businesses can trust, and citizens can access more easily. 🤝
