“We already use nesting software, but we still have to move some parts around by hand.”

That’s what a customer told us.

We thought – that shouldn’t be the case.

So we spent a few months looking into how others solve it, trying different things, and figuring out why there was still so much manual work.

Then we decided to build our own.

That’s how LAPAS started. 🙌

Today, more and more businesses are using LAPAS, and the product keeps getting better as we learn from them.

It all started with one customer’s problem. Now we’re curious to see where it goes.

Every cutting shop I've visited wastes the same way.

They cut what they need. Leave the rest of the sheet empty. Move on.

A few years ago, I visited a small cutting shop.
They needed to cut 6 parts. Arranged them by hand on the sheet. Left maybe 40% of the material completely empty. Cut. Done.

I asked why they don't fit more parts on the same sheet.

"We only need 6."

But you paid for the whole sheet either way.

💡 That's when I started looking into it. Turns out small shops do this constantly. Big fabricators have software that solves it automatically - $10,000 to $20,000 a year. Small shops either don't know it exists or just can't afford it.

So I thought: how hard can it be to build?

Harder than I expected.

The existing algorithms we found weren't good enough. We ended up writing our own. Then hit performance problems on top of that. Solved most of them. Still improving.

Many months later, we finally launched.
