The world is running out of antibiotics
A new WHO report shows a serious lack of new antibiotics under development to combat the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance. The report found very few potential treatment options for those antibiotic-resistant infections identified by WHO as posing the greatest threat to health, including drug-resistant tuberculosis which kills around 250 000 people each year.

Health is a human right, not a privilege
Ensuring universal health coverage is a priority for WHO. Health is a human right, not a privilege. People shouldn't have to choose between buying medicine and buying food. Every country, whether rich or poor, should be able to provide essential health services without pushing people into poverty.

Emergency update: Cox Bazar, Bangladesh
Since 25 August more than 420 000 people have crossed from Myanmar to Bangladesh following violence in Rakhine state, Myanmar.
WHO is providing the governments of Bangladesh and Myanmar with essential drugs and medical supplies, including kits to treat and prevent cholera.
