We successfully completed a productive 2-day SIIS training workshop with the NAQDA Batticaloa team, focused on strengthening system adoption, data onboarding, and operational readiness for field implementation.

A sincere thank you to Mr. Ravikumar (AD – NAQDA) for coordinating and arranging all logistics to make the sessions successful. Special appreciation to Mr. Arshad Ali for his active participation, guidance, and continued support throughout the training.

The sessions were jointly conducted by GeoEDGE and NAQDA, and it was encouraging to see the enthusiasm and commitment of the Batticaloa team as they move towards full utilization of the SIIS platform.

GeoEDGE was pleased to present the scoped Digital Rice Value Chain Traceability System to the Board of the Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) of Sri Lanka.

The proposed platform aims to enhance transparency, traceability, and operational efficiency across the rice value chain, supporting better decision-making and improved food security outcomes.

We thank the PMB Board for their valuable feedback and look forward to the next phase of this important initiative.

GeoEDGE conducted a special training session for NAQDA Head Office staff on the Shrimp Industry Information System (SIIS), focusing on approval workflows and operational management.

The session aimed to strengthen system adoption and enhance operational efficiency as SIIS moves into its implementation phase.

GeoEDGE is proud to have supported the FAO Terminal Workshop held on 12 May as part of the concluding phase of the project - Smart and Sustainable Aquaculture through Effective Biosecurity and Digital Technology.

As part of this initiative, GeoEDGE developed the SIIS system for NAQDA, supporting digital transformation and improved aquaculture management in the shrimp industry.

The workshop brought together the Hon. Minister from the Ministry of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources and the teams from FAO, NAQDA, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea, the Korean Embassy, and stakeholders including NARA, CAADDR and DAPH.

Thank you to all partners and stakeholders for the collaboration and support throughout the project.

We wrapped up the final Shrimp Industry Information System (SIIS) workshop on 11 May, bringing together the Ministry of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DFAR), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), National Aquaculture Development Authority (NAQDA), and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea.

The session was primarily led by Mr. Arshad Ali from NAQDA, who presented the system and demonstrated its functionality to ensure stakeholders gain a clear understanding of its usage and capabilities ahead of the project closure.

A great milestone as we move toward the final phase of the project.

Transforming the Rice Value Chain: Ground-Level Insights from PMB Anuradhapura

GeoEDGE (Pvt) Ltd had the opportunity to spend two insightful days in Anuradhapura, working closely with the Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) as part of the development of the Digital Rice Value Chain Traceability System, implemented with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The discussions were held on 14th and 15th March at the Paddy Marketing Board, Anuradhapura Regional Office, with the participation of Mr. Saman Palitha Bandara, General Manager of PMB; Mr. Nimal, Regional Manager; along with PMB staff and warehouse managers, and Mr. Semasinghe, representing the Chairman of the Small and Medium Scale Rice Mill Owners’ Association.
