Following the successful workshop in Ratnapura, GeoEDGE, together with ADPC and NBRI, conducted a User Needs Assessment Workshop in Badulla as part of the LA-Res (Landslide Resilience Analytical and Advisory System) project.

GeoEDGE is proud to join forces with the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) in the development and deployment of the Landslide Resilience Analytical and Advisory System (LA-Res) in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO).

The project aims to strengthen Sri Lanka’s landslide monitoring, risk assessment, and decision-making capabilities through a data-driven digital platform featuring real-time monitoring, advanced analytics, early warning mechanisms, and integrated information sharing.

The project kick-off meeting was successfully held on 29 May at the CRes MPA Project Office.

We successfully completed a productive 2-day SIIS training workshop with the NAQDA Batticaloa team, focused on strengthening system adoption, data onboarding, and operational readiness for field implementation.

A sincere thank you to Mr. Ravikumar (AD – NAQDA) for coordinating and arranging all logistics to make the sessions successful. Special appreciation to Mr. Arshad Ali for his active participation, guidance, and continued support throughout the training.

The sessions were jointly conducted by GeoEDGE and NAQDA, and it was encouraging to see the enthusiasm and commitment of the Batticaloa team as they move towards full utilization of the SIIS platform.

GeoEDGE is proud to have supported the FAO Terminal Workshop held on 12 May as part of the concluding phase of the project - Smart and Sustainable Aquaculture through Effective Biosecurity and Digital Technology.

As part of this initiative, GeoEDGE developed the SIIS system for NAQDA, supporting digital transformation and improved aquaculture management in the shrimp industry.

The workshop brought together the Hon. Minister from the Ministry of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources and the teams from FAO, NAQDA, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea, the Korean Embassy, and stakeholders including NARA, CAADDR and DAPH.

We wrapped up the final Shrimp Industry Information System (SIIS) workshop on 11 May, bringing together the Ministry of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DFAR), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), National Aquaculture Development Authority (NAQDA), and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea.

The session was primarily led by Mr. Arshad Ali from NAQDA, who presented the system and demonstrated its functionality to ensure stakeholders gain a clear understanding of its usage and capabilities ahead of the project closure.

A great milestone as we move toward the final phase of the project.
