We're excited to share highlights from the Government Digital Payment Platform (GDPP) Workshop conducted by ICTA on May 21, 2024. The workshop focused on critical areas to enhance digital payment processes and prepare for the national rollout.
Branded as “GovPay,” the workshop objectives included reviewing project progress, identifying best practices in payment processes, gathering inputs for the GDPP launch and national rollout, providing guidance for better adoption by organizations and citizens, and designing an effective communication and promotional campaign.
The institutions that attended this GDPP workshop were the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka, Survey Department of Sri Lanka, University of Moratuwa, Divisional Secretariat - Kegalle, Divisional Secretariat - Mahara, Divisional Secretariat, Ratmalana, Divisional Secretariat Thimbirigasyaya, Gampaha Municipal Council and Rambukkana Pradeshiya Sabhawa.
The sessions and speakers included registration coordinated by our diligent team, a welcome and session objectives delivered by Manoj Hemaratne, Senior Manager, a presentation on digital transformation and GDPP adoption by Sameera Jayawardena, Chief Digital Government Officer (Acting)/Associate Chief Digital Economy Officer, and an update on the current status of the pilot project by Udaya Kasthurirathna, Program Manager. Insights on the support mechanism (L1, L2 & L3) were provided by Thusha Mukunthan, Chief Delivery Officer and Amila Ekanayake, Shared Services Manager from LankaPay, while Sampath de Silva, Director of Strategic Communication, led a session on designing a promotional and communication plan. A discussion on lessons learned, best practices, and inputs for the GDPP national rollout was facilitated by Sameera Jayawardena.
