Why is a pyramid tea bag shaped like a pyramid?

The shape isn’t simply for aesthetics. A pyramid tea bag is designed around the way tea leaves interact with water during brewing.

Unlike a traditional flat tea bag, its three-dimensional structure creates additional internal space, giving the tea leaves more room to move and expand as they infuse.
