Nine years of innovation, growth, challenges, breakthroughs, and unforgettable moments.

On August 28, 2026, we celebrated the 9th anniversary of Spera in a truly special way, with our anniversary cake being cut by SPERA Humanoid Robot, South Asia’s first, human-sized bipedal full humanoid robot, entirely built by Spera.

What began as a vision nine years ago has grown into a journey driven by technology, creativity, and the determination to build what once seemed impossible.

This moment was more than just cutting a cake. It represented how far we have come, the people who have been part of our journey, and the future we continue to build together.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible team, partners, supporters, and everyone who has believed in Spera throughout these nine years.

On 28 August 2026, we celebrated nine years of SPERA.

This anniversary was different.

We celebrated it alongside SPERA Humanoid, a machine that represents years of ambition, engineering, persistence, failures, rebuilding, and a team that continued to believe in what we are building.

Nine years ago, SPERA began with a vision.

Today, that vision has grown into software, AI, advanced robotics, and our ambition to build globally significant technology from Sri Lanka.

Thank you to every person who has been part of these nine years.

INTRODUCING SPERA HUMANOID — BUILDING A GLOBAL HUMANOID ROBOTICS INDUSTRY FROM SRI LANKA AND CLAIMING OUR PLACE IN THE US$5 TRILLION HUMANOID ECONOMY

Today, we proudly introduce SPERA HUMANOID — PROTOTYPE ONE, South Asia’s first full-scale bipedal humanoid developed from the ground up for security applications.

The journey began with a childhood ambition of our Founder and CEO, Sahan Yapa: to build a machine in the human form and bring it to life.

Years later, that ambition became SPERA.

Sahan bootstrapped the company and continued investing in this vision through years of experimentation, setbacks, and failed attempts. Building a full-scale humanoid in Sri Lanka, with limited access to the specialised resources, technology, and expertise such an undertaking demands, often seemed beyond reach.

But one belief remained constant:

Sri Lanka should not simply watch the next technological revolution unfold. We should have a hand in building it.

Around that belief, a team of exceptional Sri Lankan engineers came together.

What followed were years of research, development, testing, failure, rebuilding, and countless iterations. Behind every movement of SPERA HUMANOID, every mechanical system, every electronic component, and every line of code is the work of a team that kept solving one problem after another until an idea became a working machine.

Today marks the result of that work.

SPERA HUMANOID — PROTOTYPE ONE is our first major step towards building advanced humanoid robotics technology in Sri Lanka and taking it to the world.

It also marks the beginning of a much larger ambition: to establish Sri Lanka as a serious participant in the emerging global humanoid robotics economy, a market projected to reach trillions of dollars in the decades ahead.

For us, this is about more than building a robot.

It is about building knowledge.
Building engineering capability.
Building technology.
And ultimately, building an entirely new industry from Sri Lanka.

Perhaps most importantly, it is proof that where an idea begins does not determine how far it can go.

At Spera, progress has never been measured only by what we build, achieve, or gain. It is also measured by what we contribute to the world around us.

What began with the simple act of sharing a meal gradually became a responsibility embraced across the company. Today, this commitment includes feeding more than 400 stray dogs every day, supporting thousands of families, helping thousands of students, planting trees, and providing food, mobility, care, and opportunity where they are needed.

For us, social impact is not separate from the company’s purpose. Technology, growth, and innovation have greater meaning when they improve lives and create hope beyond the organisation itself.

Our journey is about building the future while giving something meaningful back to people, animals, nature, and every living thing.
