Raditha Dissanayake, recently conducted a Finance & Basic Economics Workshop – Software Engineering Edition, introducing the audience to basic economics and personal finance through analogies from software engineering where applicable.

The session encouraged participants to explore new ways of thinking about balancing personal finances and managing investments, leading to better long-term financial decision-making and future planning.

Quality isn't something you test at the end—it's something you build from the very beginning.

Our engineering team recently participated in a hands-on workshop on Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD), led by our Associate Architects, Mujahid Thoufeek and Sujith Thillayampalam.

The session focused on shifting how we think about quality from the ground up.The core message was simple: tests should be written before code, not after, so they drive better design rather than just verify existing work. Teams were introduced to Gherkin, a plain-English syntax that allows developers, QA, and product owners to collaboratively define acceptance criteria before a single line of code is written.

Building great software goes beyond writing code—it requires the ability to troubleshoot complex challenges and design systems that scale.
Our engineering teams recently participated in two hands-on workshops focused on strengthening modern software engineering practices.

Root Cause Analysis, led by Udith Narangoda, Associate Architect, explored the engineering thought process and the scientific approach to identifying the root cause of production issues and hard-to-trace bugs, emphasizing a structured and analytical methodology to troubleshooting.

Messaging and Event-Driven Programming, led by Shiraz Kamal, Software Architect, challenged conventional thinking around distributed systems by exploring why not all message queues are equal and why not every workflow should be event-driven. The session covered best practices for event-driven architecture and the importance of making informed architectural trade-offs when designing scalable systems.
