ODI Global, in collaboration with SLASSCOM and GovTech Sri Lanka, has launched “E-commerce and international trade in Sri Lanka”, drawing on responses from 953 exporters and importers.

70% of exporters surveyed already use e-commerce for trade. Yet getting paid, clearing customs and delivering goods remain challenges, alongside gaps in cybersecurity and digital skills.

The report looks at what needs to change so more businesses, especially smaller firms, can reach overseas customers and grow their exports.

As part of our efforts to create international exposure and opportunities for Sri Lankan founders, SLASSCOM, in collaboration with the Royal Norwegian Embassy, facilitated a 3-day visit to IITM Pravartak Research Park, India, for two founders selected from recent Entrepreneurship & Innovation programmes.

The opportunity was extended to:

Kosala Jayasundara (Founder & CEO, DiabSense)
🏆 National Winner – SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards 2026

Tharsayani Mohan (Founder, Eagle Tech Solutions (Pvt) Ltd), Founder of Trunk Guard, an innovative elephant-repellent solution
🏆 Winner – SLASSCOM Hack Like a Girl 3.0 Hackathon 2026

The visit provided an opportunity for the founders to gain exposure to India’s innovation ecosystem, connect with industry and ecosystem stakeholders, and explore potential avenues for collaboration and growth.

We look forward to seeing these innovations take the next steps towards wider markets and new opportunities.
