It is great witnessing the Abu Dhabi terminal A project finally realized especially the new Abu Dhabi Arabic font used on the wayfinding and the geometric patterns and colors designed by Evibes and used consistently in various terminal spaces.

As an airport that is adding a new icon to the architecture of Abu Dhabi, our team was looking into sources of inspiration that are intrinsic to its identity, elements that will bring about the environment and culture of Abu Dhabi.

Arabic Signage consultancy - Abu Dhabi International Airport

The main thrust of this project was to develop a well designed corporate Arabic font that will create a good match for the Latin Frutiger to help achieve optically balanced sign faces.

Evibes’ team also worked on developing the pictogram set to specifically suit Abu Dhabi’s culture and the overall airport environment.

Evibes’ role extended to providing Arabic message translation for signs, illustrate Arabic graphical artwork and review final wayfinding schedules.

Abu Dhabi International Airport - Pattern and colour strategy design

Our aim was to create striking contemporary effects of Arabic patterns and calligraphy with a rich palette of the hues and colours that constitute Abu Dhabi: Sea, oasis, desert and its urban fabric. For the patterns, the search was founded on the Arabic patterns and geometry. As for the calligraphy, each pier had a calligraphic signature.

Graphics and colours have been applied on Holdroom walls of different piers, on large walls and on tiling highlights consistently in different areas throughout the terminal.
