Following up on my Poké Ball stills, I turned them into a short animation as a technical test.

I reused and linked animation data between the Poké Ball and Great Ball to practice applying the same motion across different objects.

The focus was on improving lighting, materials, and simple camera movement in Blender, then finishing the edit in After Effects with transitions and synced sound effects.

Practicing the workflow and refining the details.

Back to something familiar ⚡️

Pokémon was a big part of my childhood, long before I knew anything about materials, shaders, or 3D.

I made these Poké Balls a while back by following a tutorial and adding my own touch. Coming back to refine the materials felt strangely nostalgic.

Same model. Better understanding. More intention.

Back to Blender. 🍩

I’ve always wanted to become a 3D artist. Life, timing, and priorities got in the way — but the feeling of watching a simple cube turn into something real, textured, and alive never left.

After being on and off with 3D for years, I’m committing to making Blender a consistent part of my practice in 2026. This donut project was my reset.

I’m sharing this as a challenge to myself — something to look back on next year and see how far I’ve come.

If you work in 3D: what helped you progress the most, and how do you practice consistently?
