Iceman.kz

Iceman.kz This is our platform to show the most picturesque observations and interesting events we observe in the areas of our operations.

The company was founded in 2012 by leading ice specialists in Kazakhstan. The core group of the company has 10 to 15 years of experience operating in the Caspian Sea as well as several years of involvement with projects supporting seismic operations off the Greenland coast and research conducted in the Barents Sea off Svalbard coast. The major goal of the company is provision of Ice and Metocean s

upport services for operations in ice covered waters. The following activities are the core services provided by the company’s personnel:

Pre-season activities

Planning of operations in ice covered waters
Training of staff for several levels of awareness on ice related issues
Development, set-up and integration of data management systems
Satellite acquisition planning and optimization of costs with free images for remote sensing programs
Ice Season activities

Provision of Ice Charting services on site and remotely depending on complexity of operations
Provision of Ice Monitoring services aboard structures and vessels offshore
Operational analysis and forecast of ice events hazardous for operations
On-site awareness training of operational personnel
Post-season activities

Evaluation of ice season and impact on operations
Development of recommendations to increase safety and efficiency of operations during ice season. Non-Operational activities

Statistical analysis of Ice and Metocean data
Satellite imagery interpretation
In-situ ice measurements
Ice environment studies in the areas of future operations
Sea ice – structure interaction scenarios
Concept development and design support of structures in ice

We are getting recovered from POAC travel. Jet lag is almost gone and we are back to normal operations being busy.

has fully met our expectations. Meeting colleagues from all over the world in real was a big change compared to the disruption of the previous years. We were happy to talk, share, discuss and socialize as we do being humans.

Technical discussions were also good. We brought back as many new ideas for development and change as we have shared to the world.

Thanks a lot to the organizers for a really good event. We enjoyed it very much.

See you all in St. Jhon in two years.

ICEMAN sessions at POAC 2023 in Glasgow would not be complete without introduction of new dataset compiled for the region. Spatially and temporally complete data on ice cover deformation derived from SAR is a recent development enhancing our impact assessments and studies with surface roughness information.

Here is another teaser for the presentations by our team. Visit Glasgow in less than two weeks to learn more how sophisticated data analysis can enhance your design and operations planning.

The series of released data collection and interpretation methods switches from data collection and interpretation to demonstration of practical applications. Multiparametric georeferenced dataset enables sophisticated analysis and building self-learning forecasting algorithms.

Daily quantified assessment of ice movement initiation time is a challenge for offshore operations in ice covered waters. Data driven decisions to mobilize appropriate resources when they are needed at a place where they are needed is a smart way to ensure safety of activities.

Iceman presents their empirical solution based on segmented dataset designed to pick destabilization events in forecast model numerical outputs. Conversation and discussion may heat up with parallel analytical solutions and synthesis empirical-analitical solutions presented in the same conference.

Ice cover mobility is not a standard parameter in typical ice charting observations. Nevertheless, it is important when describing sceanrios or assessing impact from ice cover. ICEMAN introduced the parameter into their hindcast and monitoring program in combination with other typical attributes describing ice cover. Among others, Mobility/Stability and its practical applications in offshore facilities design and planning marine operations will be discussed at the 27th International Conference on Port and Ocean Engineering under Arctic Conditions.

in Glasgow will be the first audience to see results of ICEMAN's hindcast activities. Ice thickness distribution across the whole region in the history of the recent years with changing climate has always been an open question to operators. As it is the key component of our database, we will present our findings in form of detailed comprehensive statistical charts.

takes place in Glasgow this year.
After four years break with publications Iceman has a lot to share.
This time we feature results of five years effort to hindcast detailed Caspian ice cover classification for the recent history. Data structure, methods used, derivative statistics and showcases in support of offshore design and operations planning will be presented.

Ice cover hindcast and retrospective fill of daily observations continues. Another season (2006-07) representing mild conditions of previous colder period before 2013 was recently completed.

Adding this season to the database closes the gap making it complete for the period from 2005 to 2023. 18 years of detailed ice and metocean data illustrate dynamics of Caspian Sea Ice development in the changing environment of the region.
