PopcornSAR participated in CES 2023, which was held in Las Vegas from January 5th to 8th, and led a booth demonstration at the COVESA convention.
As an AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform specialist, we demonstrated ADAS autonomous driving demonstrations with QNX 7.1 + Adaptive Platform(R20-11) + ROS2.

PopcornSAR supports functional validation on Raspberry Pi 4 boards first before performance validation on the target board.
We also demonstrated the same QNX 7.1 GUI Graphic developed by PopcornSAR on VMware to validate functionality without a development board.
Many visitors were very interested in the demonstration of PopcornSAR and inquired about it.

PopcornSAR will use its experience at CES 2023 as a stepping stone to visit its customers with improved products and technology.

[About the Working Group activities of the AUTOSAR Organization]

The organization chart of AUTOSAR is as follows. (As of December 2022)

On the figure, each 'WG-###' surrounded by a gray rectangle corresponds to a Working Group that governs a specific specification. Also, we are dividing these Working Groups into details.

Cross-standard Working Groups are groups that affect both CP and APs. For example, in the case of WG-DIA (fault diagnosis), both CP and AP are required functions, and each layer is being reviewed by one team.

There are also four lead working groups in Cross-standard Working Group (WG-A, WG-MT, WG-SEC, WG-SAF), which are also the most important functioning groups in AUTOSAR. For example, WG-A is responsible for architecture, and is making integrated judgments such as the adequacy of CP and AP specifications. In other words, the architecture team must judge when putting concept specifications.

There is also a team for each function of CP and AP. For example, because Runtime Environment (RTE) is only for CPs, Autosar named it WG-CP-RTE, and because Ex*****on Main & OS (EMO) is only for APs, Autosar named it WG-AP-EMO.

Bosch began SOP in 2019 with a mix of AUTOSAR Classic Platform and Adaptive Platform. Bosch has recently produced ECUs with NVIDIA GPUs and AI using only Adaptive Platform, and is also focusing on the SOP of Adaptive Platform-based ECUs on future development roadmap. According to this strategy, Bosch invests 3.7 billion euros (about 5.13 trillion won) in SW development every year.

Bosch also knows that it is difficult for electronic parts companies such as Bosch to develop Adaptive Application considering all the differences in roads, parking facilities, and external infrastructure by country or region, and predicts that the role of 3rd partner will be greatly expanded.

In recent years, veghicles are changing to a centralized E/E architecture. For this reason, a small number of high-performance ECUs with Adaptive Platform to be mounted on the car to perform integration functions. Compared to the traditional distributed E/E architecture of dozens of ECUs, AP is capable of complexity or computation, enabling OTA and high-quality IT technology, reducing costs, lightening weight, and simplifying networks.

Tesla's flagship Model 3 introduced the centralized E/E architecture, indicating fewer ECUs than traditional vehicles.

With the recent development of technology, products and services incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) can be easily accessed in everyday life around us.

The automobile industry is also actively moving to introduce artificial intelligence, and domestic manufacturers are also focusing on discovering new artificial intelligence-based technologies by forming specialized organizations.

In the case of automobiles, there are two main types of artificial intelligence.

First, we need artificial intelligence for backend servers that continuously learn by collecting data from cars in real time. In fact, Tesla makes big data on vehicle diagnostic failure information so that the electrical components of a car that are expected to fail 95% or more within 10 days can be repaired in advance. Similarly, Adaptive Platform requires continuous vehicle data to be sent to the server.

The second is artificial intelligence that is applied to the ECU installed in the car. This is for object detection, which recognizes terrain features such as vehicles, people, and roads. In Adaptive Platform, control judgment can be made through the fusion analysis of the camera and Lidar in real time. ECU should be equipped with a dedicated chip that supports AI, and semiconductor technology that can minimize power consumption is also needed.

This is PopcornSAR, a company specializing in AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform.

From September 27th to September 30th, we successfully completed the AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform seminar for our clients and internal developers.

This seminar was conducted by CTO Paul, a key member of PopcornSAR, who led the development of PopcornSAR's design tools and platforms.

PopcornSAR has been holding seminars several times, but unfortunately, because of restrictions on gatherings due to COVID-19, it was not possible to hold seminars for a while, but this time, we were able to cunduct the seminar about the entire R20-11 based AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform.

In particular, the clients were very satisfied with the seminar, which further strengthened PopcornSAR's AUTOSAR training know-how and systematic curriculum over the years.

PopcornSAR, as the only AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform company in Korea, will continue to make efforts to provide appropriate education and seminars to customers from basic capabilities to advanced stages as well as product sales.
