🐑🐐 SHEEP & GOAT MANGE: Know the Signs, Save Your Flock*
Mange is a fast-spreading skin disease in sheep & goats caused by tiny mites. If you catch it late, it hits your flock’s health, growth, and your profits hard.
*🚨 Watch out for these signs:*
1. Constant scratching + rubbing on fences
2. Bald patches or wool falling out
3. Thick, crusty, scabby skin
4. Animals looking weak + losing weight
5. Less milk from your does/ewes
6. Open sores from scratching
*📍 How it spreads:*
Mites move through direct contact, shared pens/bedding, overcrowded housing, or when you bring in a new infected animal without quarantine.
*💉 What to do if you see it:*
1. Inject antiparasitics like Ivermectin as prescribed by your vet
2. Use approved mite sprays/dips for the whole flock
3. Separate sick animals immediately
4. Disinfect & clean all pens, feeders, bedding
*🛡 Prevention is cheaper than treatment:*
✔ Quarantine new animals for 2-3 weeks
✔ Keep housing dry, clean + well ventilated
✔ Don’t overcrowd your pens
✔ Check animals weekly during handling
✔ Treat early - don’t wait for it to spread
