What is it about?
The funding model is student centered and loans and bursaries will be apportioned to students based on their assessed level of need. The universities and TVET will no longer receive bloc funding in the form of capitation. The funding to students shall combine scholarship, loans and household contributions on a graduated scale as determined Means Testing Instrument [MTI]. Students from extremely needy and vulnerable backgrounds will pay nothing to colleges and universities.
What this means in LayMans language. Wakati ulikuwa unaapply courses through KUCCPS, You saw what the fee was 180k plus, thats the ammount you are epected to pay and thats what many institutions will give you as fee structure apoun dowloading your admission letter, the here is the catch. we have a few students who can afford that then there is the category that cant afford. that bcategory has been classified into three groups
1 Vulnerable - those who wont pay anything on tution except the upkeep
2 Extremely needy- those who wont pay anything on tution except the upkeep
3 Needy and less needy, will pay 7% of the tution Money.

The Government wont assume that you fall under the above four categories, no you have to apply for the new Financing model on where you fall, will assist you on that, at a fee of course.

Let me share something for people in Business.
If you want to do a Capital project, let's say a few millions to buy a property(house, land etc) or a Car.
Assuming the investment its worth 3m and you have it as savings from your business,
Common sense dictates you take two third ⅔ of that amount in this case 2m an reinvest in your business.
Take the remaining a third ⅓ to your bank or Sacco and get a loan of 3m and negotiate interest rates plus the repayment period.
Bottom line, don't exhaust/ tire your business on savings to do projects, take loans and maintain your business.

• Be a Kenyan citizen;
• Must be a holder of at least a diploma in education;
• Must be a registered teacher with Teachers Service Commission

Eligibility

• Must be hailing from Garissa, Mandera or Wajir Counties;
• Must be teaching under Board of Management in Garissa, Mandera or Wajir Counties, if not hailing from the 3 counties;

• Must be a holder of a P1 certificate in the case of primary schools and a minimum of a Diploma in Education in the case of secondary schools.
