INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS
A computer is a device or machine that consists of hardware and software designed to perform specialized tasks like automation.
Hardware is the physical devices connected inside or externally on the computer to perform additional functionality and usually are from third party companies.
Software is a collection of instructions that tell a computer what to do; they specify how a computer is to perform tasks. A step by step procedure you might say.
You can connect additional hardware and their respective software (which are called drivers) to perform more specialized tasks with the said device.
Now what are drivers? There are millions if not billions of devices in the world today that work with computers i.e. cameras, printers, phones, hard disks, keyboard, mouse, network adapters. So drivers are programmed by hardware manufacturers to enable the device to communicate (work) with the computer.
So you can connect additional hardware as long as you add additional drivers that will help the computers to communicate with the physical devices.
A Stand Alone Computer is a machine that stands on its own. In that it has all features and functionality to perform all the tasks requested by a user.
