Visited the home of analog computing (USA), where founders started the technology journey (century ago) which continues to date. Multiple inventions since, have led us through the digital age, which is now transforming into the Robotics (machine learning) and AI era.
The message delivered by IBM CEO Arvind was about progressing AI across all sectors and IT solutions as we know today.
I heard a new word continuously repeated: Generative AI. Meaning - ability to generate new content (data, images, etc) vs using existing data. Both, traditional and generative, analyze data and give new insights hence the intelligence.
Is Africa ready for AI? I doubt it.
Why?
Where is our relevant data (manual or digital)? Do we have the talent, trained and ready?
Most organisations are yet to get all their key data digitized, sorted and integrated ready to apply AI models. Plus, who is trained on AI? Are the data governance policies in place AI ready?
