You see the report.

You rarely see what it took to get there.

In this clip from HR Uncensored at Alternate Doors, Juliet Gateri shares how Peleza went beyond remote follow-ups and physically visited a company during a difficult verification.

That effort helped her resolve the situation and retain an important client.

This is the work behind a Peleza report.

You receive more than a final result. You receive the context needed to understand how the check was handled and what the outcome may mean for your decision.

Would you onboard a customer, hire an employee, approve credit or engage a business partner without confirming the information they provided?

Unverified or incomplete information can expose an organization to identity fraud, financial loss, regulatory risk, unsuitable hires, unreliable vendors and costly decisions that are difficult to reverse.

Peleza Verify has expanded its coverage across Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Angola, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Your team can now access more identity, passport, address, tax, workforce and credit-related verification capabilities from one dashboard. This means broader African coverage without managing separate verification providers, disconnected systems or different onboarding processes for every market.

Whether you are verifying a customer, employee, vendor or business partner, Peleza helps your team establish who they are dealing with before making the decision that follows.

Risk is rarely obvious at the point a decision is made.

A candidate may present valid-looking documents. A business may appear credible. A relationship may seem low-risk. Yet the issues that later create reputational, regulatory or operational exposure often begin with signals that were available earlier but not fully investigated.

Our review of adverse verification outcomes revealed a clear pattern: forgery appeared most often, followed by misconduct and disciplinary findings. The results also showed that exposure was not limited to one sector, with financial services, workforce platforms, BPOs and consumer businesses all represented.

The implication is important.

Verification should not end once a person or business has been approved. Stronger decisions require a continuous process of verifying, screening, monitoring and reassessing risk as new information emerges.

In this carousel, you will see:

How adverse risk appeared across the reviewed outcomes
Which industries were most represented
Why late discovery creates greater exposure
What HR and talent teams should strengthen
Why continuous monitoring matters after onboarding

Swipe through the carousel to explore the findings and what they mean for your organization.

Identify risk before it becomes exposure.

The most valuable feedback we have ever received was never asked for.

Our CEO recently walked into a branch of one of Kenya’s largest banks as an ordinary customer.

As a teller completed the account-opening process and ran the required KYC checks, she noticed the company name.

“Peleza?”

Her face lit up. Without being prompted, she began sharing how much the process had changed.

“This used to take at least a week.”

Customers would repeatedly call asking:

“Is my account ready?”

And the answer was often:

“KYC bado” — still in progress.

Today, customers can complete the process and leave the branch with an active account during the same visit.
The impact is felt beyond faster verification.

Customers spend less time waiting. Frontline teams face fewer follow-up calls. Banks can create a smoother onboarding experience while maintaining the controls required to manage risk and remain compliant.

The teller was not giving a testimonial.
She was simply describing how her workday had changed.
That is what made the feedback so valuable.

Because the true measure of risk intelligence infrastructure is not only the number of checks it can run.

It is the difference it makes for the people who rely on it every day.

Sometimes, the people closest to the customer give you the clearest measure of value.

A plane carrying half a ton of co***ne broke down in West Africa.
Investigators traced the aircraft to its legal owner.

It was a quiet company registered in Delaware, thousands of miles away. Fully compliant. In good standing for years.
Nobody could easily see who actually controlled it.

This is the shell and shelf company problem, and it is not a loophole. It is how the system is designed to work.

Neither structure is illegal. Both serve legitimate purposes: holding assets, enabling mergers, protecting privacy. The risk begins when they are used to hide who really benefits, move illicit funds, evade sanctions, or bury a conflict of interest.

For banks, insurers, and anyone onboarding a business, one lesson stands out:

Confirming that a company is registered is no longer enough.
The question that matters now is: who ultimately owns or controls it?
That is what Know Your Business (KYB) and Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO) verification are built to answer. They look past the incorporation certificate to the actual people behind the entity, so you can assess real risk before it becomes your exposure.

Because you cannot manage a risk you cannot see.

We break down how ghost companies stay legal, and how to see through them, in the full article:

Imagine someone digging through every detail of their personal life.

That isn't how responsible background screening works.

If you went to Summertides, had a great time, and went home with nothing more than memories and photos, there's nothing about that experience that belongs in a background check.
What matters is information that helps an employer or organization make an informed decision.

Depending on the purpose of the screening, that could include verifying your identity, confirming your education or employment history, checking professional licenses, or reviewing criminal records where legally permitted and relevant.

The same principle applies to social media screening. A responsible social media check isn't interested in your beach photos, dance videos, or festival highlights.

The focus is on publicly available content that could point to genuine risk.
That might include evidence of fraud, threats of violence, hate speech, or other behavior that raises legitimate concerns for a role or organization.

Enjoy the festival. Create memories. Post your photos.

Just remember that every decision leaves a different kind of footprint, and some footprints matter more than others.
