“I’ll start with my family and ensure that they are all covered,” says Mr. Festus Bett, CEO of Kipkelion District Cooperative Union Ltd. “Why wait until you spend more? Pay (for the insurance) when you have time and relax. Contributing an average of Kes 5,000 weekly for eventualities is too high.” Mr. Bett advocates strongly for this insurance, highlighting the burden of medical and funeral costs.

At Kenya, we are committed to supporting cooperatives of all sizes across the country. Our IPaaS (Insurance Platform as a Service) digital solution contributes to risk mitigation for both individual members and the cooperative itself. This includes protection against health-related and death expenses, effectively reducing the financial burden on members and the cooperative.

Kipkelion District Cooperative Union, a member-owned organization, represents over 43,000 coffee farmers in Kenya. Through this partnership, all farmers in the cooperative, and their families have the opportunity to purchase affordable hospital and life cash insurance. The insurance covers unforeseen events such as hospitalization and death, providing families with financial stability and better preparation to handle such unfortunate event.

Earlier today DDFinance Kenya visited our office in Nairobi to discuss possible collaboration in the promotion of the uptake of insurance among our project participants.

Data-Driven Finance is a Norwegian Certified Corporation enabling low-cost insurance workflows in low-income countries.

Through this potential partnership, members of Cooperatives will get hospital cash insurance to cushion them against hospitalization-related financial shocks.
