We are nearing the festive season and soon incidences of mugging, assaults, indiscriminate shootings and other ugly cases will begin to crop up. Being a Kenyan, I understand our nature of responding to such incidences: we wait till they occur and start blaming the Police; they arrived late, had they responded quickly the muggers would have been nabbed. But we forget it is our first responsibility to protect ourselves, our loved ones and property.
It is time to change this approach and begin to play active role in placing proper safeguards against these ills. Did you you know we now have CCTV cameras that can capture in secret and senses when there is a possible danger? What a relief to get secret notification of possible attack before it begins to happen. What more, this system can be integrated with electric scare, secret alarm to a police post and general alarm, all at once !
