Many SACCOs invest in mobile banking, then measure success only through app downloads or registration numbers. That is not enough.

The real value of mobile banking shows up in member behavior, operational efficiency and revenue growth.

One of the first metrics SACCOs should track is the transaction adoption rate. Are members actively using the platform for deposits, loan repayments, transfers and balance inquiries, or are they still relying heavily on branches?

Digital loan applications are another strong indicator. A growing share of loans initiated through mobile channels typically signals greater convenience and faster service delivery.

Deposit frequency also matters. When members can save easily through mobile banking, they tend to transact more consistently, which improves liquidity and member engagement.

SACCOs should also monitor reduced branch traffic for routine transactions. This frees staff to focus on advisory support relationship management and growth activities instead of repetitive manual tasks.
