A Google account is very powerful because it gives you access to Gmail, Google Drive, Photos, Contacts, Calendar, and many other Google services. Keeping it secure is very important.
1. Create a strong password
Use at least 12 characters.
Mix uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
Example: Huduma !
Never use your name, phone number, or birth year as your password.
2. Turn on 2-Step Verification (Highly Recommended)
This is the best protection against hackers.
Open your Google Account.
Go to Security.
Turn on 2-Step Verification.
Every time someone tries to sign in, Google will ask for a code sent to your phone.
3. Never share your password
Don't tell anyone your password.
Google employees will never ask for it.
Don't save it on other people's phones or computers.
4. Watch out for scammers
Scammers often send fake emails saying:
"Your account will be closed."
"You have won a prize."
"Click here to verify your account."
Do not click suspicious links. If you're unsure, sign in by opening the Gmail app or going directly to Google's official website instead of using the email link.
5. Check your Google storage
Your free Google account comes with 15 GB of storage shared between:
Gmail
Google Drive
Google Photos
To see how much you've used:
Open your Google Account.
Tap Storage or Manage storage.
6. Sign out on shared devices
If you use a cyber café or another person's phone:
Always sign out before leaving.
Never save your password on a public computer.
7. Keep your recovery information up to date
Add:
A recovery phone number.
A recovery email address (if you have one).
This helps you recover your account if you forget your password.
8. Keep your phone secure
Use a PIN, fingerprint, or face unlock.
Update your phone regularly.
Simple rule to remember
If an email asks for your password, money, or tells you to click a link urgently, stop and verify first. When in doubt, don't click
