Domain Rating is one of the most watched SEO metrics, but it is often misunderstood.

Ahrefs explains that there is no single number that makes a DR “good.” A score only becomes useful when it is compared against the right benchmark.

For businesses, that means looking at three areas:
🔵 Direct competitors you fight for the same customers
🔵 Industry averages that show what normal looks like in your market
🔵 The DR of websites already ranking for the keywords you want
That last point matters.

A lower-DR site can still rank when the keyword is less competitive, the content is useful, and the page matches the search intent. A higher DR can help, but it does not guarantee visibility.

The better way to use DR is as a planning tool.

It can help you see how competitive a market is, where link building may be needed, and which keywords are realistic targets right now.

The Decentralization of Search Visibility.

Google has folded Gemini across Search, Android, and Chrome, pushing the app past 750 million monthly active users. But do you know which websites Gemini actually trusts to answer their questions?

Ahrefs just released the data from over 3 million queries, and the traditional SEO playbook is expanding.

The top 3 most-cited sources on Gemini:
1️⃣ Reddit.com — 27.5% mention share
2️⃣ YouTube.com — 13.7% mention share
3️⃣ Wikipedia.org — 12.7% mention share

Notice a pattern? The top two sources are built entirely on user-generated and video content. Standard websites and blogs now need to work alongside community, video, and third-party content.

At WSI, we utilize WSI AdaptiveSEO® to help B2B and B2C brands build a digital footprint where Gemini actually looks. If you aren’t actively building brand mentions in community forums and video transcripts, you are letting your visibility slip away.

The asteroid has rewritten discovery. Let’s make sure your brand is visible where buyers and AI tools are looking.

AI is changing keyword research, but the best results still depend on reliable data.

Ahrefs explains that AI can support the slow parts of keyword research, such as brainstorming seed ideas, clustering large lists, sorting by intent, and identifying content gaps. The problem comes when AI tools are used without a connection to real SEO data.

Without that data, AI may invent search volume, keyword difficulty, SERP details, or trend signals.

That makes the workflow clear:
🔵 Use AI to speed up research and organization
🔵 Connect AI to live keyword data where possible
🔵 Cluster keywords by meaning and intent
🔵 Validate opportunities with volume, difficulty, and traffic potential
🔵 Use human judgment to decide what is worth creating

AI can act like a fast research assistant. It should not be treated as the content strategist.

AI search is changing the way SMBs earn visibility.

Buyers are asking AI tools for recommendations, comparisons, and answers before they visit a website. That means businesses are being evaluated earlier in the journey, often before they have a chance to make an impression.

WSI’s view is clear. Visibility is no longer only about ranking. It is about whether AI systems can find, verify, and trust your business.

That creates practical work for SMBs:
🔵 Strengthen authority signals across credible sources
🔵 Keep local citations and business listings consistent
🔵 Build trust through reviews, mentions, and associations
🔵 Improve site structure, schema, and crawlability
🔵 Treat every key page as a conversion page

AI search does not automatically favor the biggest company. It favors the business it can understand and trust.

Facebook video performance depends on more than length.

Socialinsider’s analysis shows that videos around 2 minutes tend to drive the strongest overall engagement and shares. Longer videos can still play a role when the goal is more comments, more views, or a more detailed explanation.

That matters for businesses using Facebook as part of their content mix.

Instead of choosing video length by habit, choose it based on intent.
🔵 Use short videos for quick updates or simple messages
🔵 Use 2-minute videos when engagement and shares matter
🔵 Use longer videos for education, product context, or deeper topics
🔵 Plan Facebook Live sessions with enough time for interaction
🔵 Measure each format against the right metric

A good Facebook video strategy is not about making every video shorter. It is about giving each message the right amount of time.

Instagram is changing how it rewards content.

Social Media Today reports that Instagram will no longer recommend photos and carousel posts from aggregator accounts that mainly repost content. The platform says it will give original content higher priority, while reducing reach for accounts built around reposting.

That matters for brands and creators.

Reposting may still have a role, but it should not carry the strategy. Instagram is making it clearer that content needs to add something original, useful, or specific to the audience.

To adapt, businesses should focus on:
🔵 Creating original posts rooted in real expertise
🔵 Adding clear value when using third-party material
🔵 Using collabs, remix, or branded content labels when relevant
🔵 Reducing dependence on aggregator-style content
🔵 Measuring quality engagement, not only reach

The takeaway is practical. Instagram wants more original content in recommendations. Brands that build around that are likely to have a stronger foundation for visibility.

Is content creation becoming more systematic?

In his latest piece for Ahrefs, Ryan Law explains how he uses Claude Code to support parts of the content workflow. The point is not to replace editorial thinking. It is to create a more repeatable process for research, structure, and quality control.

The workflow includes:
🔹 Skill files: Modular instructions for specific content tasks, such as research, outlining, and topic analysis.
🔹 Connected data: Ahrefs MCP gives Claude access to SEO data, reducing the risk of relying on unsupported assumptions.
🔹 Transparent workflows: The process shows intermediate steps, making it easier for humans to review and improve the output.
🔹 Human direction: Strategy, positioning, and brand voice still need to be set by people before automation can be useful.

The takeaway: AI can reduce the repetitive parts of content production. Strategy, judgment, and personality still need a human in the loop.

AI adoption is rising, but tool access alone does not create business value.

WSI reports 20-30% productivity gains among SMBs that completed structured AI training through AI CAMPUS. The program focuses on practical use cases, real workflows, and guided support so teams can apply AI in measurable ways.

That distinction matters.

Many businesses use AI occasionally for simple tasks. Fewer have trained their teams to use AI consistently across daily operations.

To turn AI adoption into measurable productivity, businesses should focus on:
🔵 Training tied to real workflows
🔵 Clear use cases by role or department
🔵 Shared standards for prompts and outputs
🔵 Review processes for quality and accuracy
🔵 Measurement around time saved and work improved

The businesses seeing results are not just using AI. They are building the habits and systems that make AI useful across the team.

Email marketing keeps proving its value, but the bar is higher than it used to be.

Forbes reports that email marketing delivers an average return of $36 for every $1 spent. That makes it one of the stronger channels for businesses that need measurable performance.

But the return depends on how the channel is managed.

Sending more emails is rarely the answer. Better segmentation, stronger messaging, and clearer measurement usually matter more.

Businesses should focus on:
🔵 Segmenting lists based on behavior and buyer intent
🔵 Personalizing content in ways that are useful
🔵 Testing subject lines, timing, and offers
🔵 Measuring conversions and revenue, not only opens
🔵 Keeping lists clean to protect deliverability

Email is still effective because it gives businesses a direct line to customers. The challenge is using that access with discipline.

WSI saw a 290 percent increase in AI referral traffic and a 32 percent increase in blog traffic after changing how its content was structured.

That result points to a bigger shift in search.

AI tools now shape how buyers discover, compare, and evaluate businesses before they visit a website. That means content needs to do more than rank. It needs to be clear enough to be understood, trusted, and used in AI-generated answers.

WSI’s content changes focused on:
🔵 Clearer framing at the start of each article
🔵 Tighter sections and easier scanning
🔵 Headings based on real buyer questions
🔵 Stronger proof, examples, and data
🔵 Better connections across related topics

The takeaway is practical. Strong ideas still matter, but they need to be packaged in a way that buyers and AI systems can use quickly.
