We're proud to announce our investment in GGWP as part of their $15 million Series A, alongside Smilegate and Korea Investment Partners.

🔷 The team behind it
GGWP was founded in 2020 by three people who each bring a different piece of the puzzle: Dennis Fong, one of the most recognized names in competitive gaming history; Kun Gao, co-founder of Crunchyroll; and George Ng, an AI expert who now serves as President and CTO.

🔷 Bigger than games
One thing that stood out to us: the need for community safety infrastructure has grown well beyond gaming into adjacent digital ecosystems, fan communities, streaming platforms, creator spaces.
As the lines between gaming, entertainment, and social platforms continue to blur, the demand for this kind of infrastructure extends across all of them.

🔷 On Japan specifically
As George Ng put it, Japan is home to some of the most demanding live-service publishers in the world. The bar is high. GGWP's platform is built to meet it with AI that understands the cultural and linguistic context that generic moderation tools miss.

If you are interested in learning more about or partnering with GGWP, reach out to our investor Jeremy Kai Proctor.

Expanding across the Greater Bay Area and Japan means learning two markets that operate very differently from each other. The founders and operators joining us at IVS Hong Kong x HKBU have been navigating that for years.

Through three Headline Asia portfolio companies spanning Hong Kong, Japan, and China, we'll get into what cross-border expansion has actually looked like for them: what worked, what didn't, and what they'd do differently.

⬛️ Crossing Boundaries: Japan x Greater Bay Area

◽️ Jeff Zielinski, CFO, Buy&Ship 香港 — With 20+ years spanning tech investing at Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs to operator roles in cross-border ecommerce, Jeff now leads finance and business development as Buy&Ship scales its Japan anchored platform across Asia.

◽️ Kazuhiro Shimada, CEO, ZAIKO — Having spent decades shaping Japan's music industry at Universal Music, Amazon Music, and Warner Music Japan, Kaz now leads ZAIKO as it builds a global direct-to-fan platform for live events and streaming.

◽️ Dow Wang, Founder & CEO, MoSeeker — Building on a decade in HR tech, Dow leads MoSeeker's push to make hiring smarter through AI-powered recruitment, backed by partnerships with Workday, SAP, and Oracle.

Meet Michael LoFaso, Co-Founder of Spuree.

Spuree builds AI-powered workflow software for creative teams working across animation, gaming, and interactive experiences, giving artists and IP holders the tools to spend more time on story, and less time rebuilding scenes from scratch.

The founding team brings together Hollywood executives from Rideback (The Lego Movie franchise, Lilo & Stitch, Aladdin) and ex-Apple AI researchers who understand both the technical and creative sides of production.

The result is a platform artists actually want to use.

🔷 What Spuree does: Encodes character data and assets with the artist's creative intent, so teams can move from feedback to iteration without restarting the pipeline. Iteration cycles that once took weeks now happen in hours.

🔷 What's next: Deeper studio and enterprise partnerships, tools for indie creators, and a growing focus on Asia, where established IP and creative heritage are a natural fit for what Spuree is building.

Bill Chou and Sylvie Liu, DDS, co-founders of Dentscape, came to IVS LAUNCHPAD to find their way into Japan.

Dentscape builds AI for dental manufacturing. Designing a crown used to take four days. Their platform brings that down to 10 minutes. In Japan, where the average dental technician is 53 years old and staff shortages are already a serious problem, the timing could not be better.

Watch the full interview to hear what they're building, why Japan, and what IVS LAUNCHPAD looks like from a founder's perspective.

🔶 Bill will be at IVS BETA TAIPEI on May 7.

🔷 If you are an international founder considering Japan, applications for IVS LAUNCHPAD 2026 close May 7.

Building with AI is one thing. Getting people to actually trust it in their daily work is where the real challenge begins.

Across manufacturing, video, and healthcare, a new generation of founders is closing the gap between what AI can do in a demo and what it takes to make it a workflow professionals rely on and this panel gets into exactly how.

⬛️ Panel 1: When AI Meets Reality

◽️ Natalie Feng L., Claude Ambassador, Taipei — A startup ecosystem builder with roots in AppWorks and e-commerce, Natalie brings a ground-level view of how AI tools are actually being adopted by founders in Taiwan.

◽️ Daniel Yu, Co-founder, MetAI — Solving manufacturing's hardest challenges through AI-powered digital twins, Daniel is bridging simulation and real-world deployment to accelerate the adoption of physical AI alongside NVIDIA and other industry leaders.

◽️ Peng Agnes, COO, GliaCloud Co., Ltd. — Leading GliaCloud's shift from AI video tools to agent-based services, Agnes is building the infrastructure that helps enterprises create video content at scale.

◽️ Bill Chou, Co-founder & CEO, Dentscape — Tackling the global shortage of skilled dental technicians, Bill is bringing AI-powered design to dental restoration and scaling it with some of the largest lab groups in the US.

When you are deciding where to spend your time as a founder, track record matters.

Here is what IVS LAUNCHPAD looks like over 20 years.

🔶 5,000+ startups have applied since 2007
🔶 478+ startups have pitched on the main stage
🔶 30 IPOs across the broader IVS and LAUNCHPAD ecosystem
🔶 47 buyouts across the same ecosystem

Those numbers reflect something consistent: putting the right founders in front of the right people at the right moment, over a long period of time.

For international startups, that consistency matters in a specific way. Getting meaningful access to Japan's investor and corporate community takes time when you are building from outside the country; LAUNCHPAD compresses that timeline.

Finalists pitch at IVS 2026 in Kyoto, July 1 to 3, on a 3,000-seat stage in front of Japan's most active startup ecosystems.

Applications are open until May 7, 2026.

The AI conversation has moved on from what's possible to what's actually being adopted, what's earning trust in the real world, and what that means for how startups are built and funded today.

IVS Beta Taipei is built around that shift, bringing together the builders and investors navigating it in real time.

If you are building in AI, investing in AI, or trying to understand where real adoption is happening beyond the noise, this is the conversation to join.

🔹 3,000 live audience at IVS 2026, Kyoto
🔹 10,000+ on YouTube livestream
🔹 Judged by Japan's most prominent investors, founders, and executives
🔹 Up to ¥10,000,000 for the winner

Applications close May 7, 2026.
