Is your laptop making a strange noise every time you turn it on?

Don't ignore it.

In this repair case, an HP ENVY x360 15-dr1002TU was producing a persistent high-pitched rattling noise immediately after startup.

The sound suggested that the cooling fan was physically contacting something inside the laptop.

The cooling fan is an important component because it removes heat from the CPU and helps maintain safe operating temperatures.

The laptop was carefully disassembled and the internal cooling system was inspected.

The diagnosis found wear and damage around the fan mechanism, including abnormal movement caused by deterioration of the fan shaft.

The fan itself was confirmed to be the source of the abnormal noise.

After the diagnosis, the faulty cooling fan was replaced with a compatible replacement part.

The laptop was then reassembled and tested.

Final checks confirmed:

• Smooth fan rotation
• No abnormal noise
• Proper fan speed control
• Normal operation under changing temperatures

Important:

PC powers on… but the screen stays completely black?

It doesn't always mean the monitor or graphics card is the problem.

In this case, a THIRDWAVE Magnate MT desktop PC had frozen during use.

After restarting, the power turned on normally, but nothing appeared on the screen.

Several possible causes had to be considered, including:

• Memory
• Storage
• Motherboard
• Graphics-related components

The technicians tested the internal components individually.

A problem was found with the installed memory.

When a known-good memory module was used for testing, the PC booted normally and the display returned.

The original memory was then tested separately and reproduced the same problem.

Diagnosis:
Faulty RAM was causing the no-display and startup issue.

After replacing the defective memory, the PC was tested again.

The system booted normally, the display worked correctly, and no freezing or startup problems were observed.

The important lesson:

A PC that powers on but shows no display does not automatically mean the GPU or motherboard has failed.

Proper diagnosis and component testing can identify the actual cause before replacing expensive parts.

When a laptop touchpad starts lifting, the problem may be inside the laptop.

A Dynabook X7 P1X7MPBL brought to a repair shop in Tokushima had a deformed area around the touchpad.

The cause was a swollen internal battery.

As the battery expanded, it pushed the chassis and touchpad upward, causing visible deformation.

The repair process included:

• Battery condition inspection
• Internal component and sensor checks
• Safe removal of the swollen battery
• Battery replacement
• Internal cleaning
• Charging and discharging test
• Touchpad operation test

The storage area was not affected during the battery replacement, so the customer's stored data could remain intact.

Important:
If your laptop's touchpad or palm rest suddenly starts lifting, do not press it back into place or continue using the laptop normally.

A swollen battery can put pressure on surrounding components and may create a safety risk.

Desktop PC Completely Dead?
The Power Supply May Be the Problem.

A roughly 10-year-old Thirdwave Magnate IM desktop PC was brought in because pressing the power button produced absolutely no response.

The PC was equipped with a Core i5-6500, and the customer wanted to continue using the computer rather than replace it immediately.

During diagnosis, the internal components were checked one by one.

A known-good test power supply was connected temporarily.

The PC started normally.

This confirmed that the power supply unit was the cause of the startup failure.

The faulty unit was then replaced with a new power supply, followed by load testing and system verification.

The PC successfully started and stable power delivery was confirmed.

The important lesson:

When a desktop PC shows no signs of power, don't immediately assume the motherboard is dead.

Possible causes can include:
• Power supply failure
• Motherboard problems
• Power connection issues
• Other hardware faults
