長年にわたり創作と研究の拠点として構築・運用してきたプライベート・スタジオ「SAGE」を訪ね、お話を伺いました。
自然と音、空間と意識の関係性を探究するために設計された「SAGE」や、独自に開発した立体録音システム「サイバーフォニック」で使用される特殊マイク“サイバー君”を囲みながら、音を“立体”として捉える独自のアプローチや、その背景にある思想について語っていただいています。
また、近年では 携帯電話の緊急地震速報ブザー音の制作者 としても広く知られる小久保氏。

This episode features Takashi Kokubo, an environmental composer and sound designer.
We visited “SAGE,” his private studio, which he has built and maintained over many years as a base for both creation and research.
Designed to explore the relationship between nature and sound, space and consciousness, “SAGE” is a place created for deep immersion in sound itself. Surrounded by “Cyber-kun,” a special head-shaped microphone used in Kokubo’s original 3D recording system “Cyberphonic,” we spoke with him about his unique three-dimensional approach to sound and the philosophy behind it.
Mr. Kokubo is also widely known as the creator of the earthquake early warning buzzer sound used on mobile phones in Japan. In this interview, he shares the production process behind that sound and the thinking behind designing a sound that evokes tension and urgency.
